Congrats to the Hornets in game 1.

They won fairly.  They probably would have won regardless of the clean-up timeout.

But, I really knew the Spurs were in trouble after that ridiculous 25 minute delay.

The Hornets game plan was clear.  Double-team Tim Duncan and let the 3-pointers beat them.

In the first quarter, the Spurs were hitting every shot...knocking down 6 three..

Shooting is a rhythm thing.  You cannot take long delays and maintain the rhythm.

The Hornets were also rattled.

............

Fast forward to an accidental "icing of the kicker" 25 minute clean-up delay;

The Spurs could not hit a 3 afterwards.  Their rhythm was shot.

The Hornets re-focused and shook off their jitters.

...........

I am not blaming the loss on the timeout, but it definitely was an incredible help to the Hornets and a very unlucky circumstance for the red hot Spurs.

The time out is something a veteran team like the Spurs should be able to handle, I see the Hornets winning this series in 5 or 6 games.

Actually dog

A veteran team is worse off in that situation.

During the break, both Reggie Miller & Charles Barkley emphasized how hard it is for older 30-somethings to just get back into it.

Old bodies just don't start and stop as well as 20-something bodies.

Spurs in 6.

The Hornets will never get the respect that other teams have. The time out will be the reason we win, not that we just ran the Spurs out the gym. I just don't get it with the sportscasters we just don't get any respect. I can see it now, the Hornets win the NBA championship and they will say all the teams we beat, beat themselves.

I can see it now, the Hornets win the NBA championship and they will say all the teams we beat, beat themselves. I guess the question you have to ask yourself is, do you want to be a fan of a team that doesn't win the NBA championship, or a fan of the team that didn't lose the NBA championship?

"No one respects you come playoff time?"

There isnt a whole lot of playoff time in your history to base this "no one respects you come playoff time" statement.

No one respects teams like Denver, Dallas, and Washingtom come playoff time.

Those are team that fail year after year after year...

to say that no one respects you come playoff time is using a very very small sample of playoff history...

It is more like no one knows anything about the Hornets come playoff time since they haven't been there in a long while...especially to us Western conference teams....

..............

I am certainly not one to disrespect the Hornets.

I have said over and over again that the Hornets are the most talented team left in the playoffs.

Talent is one thing...

I do not doubt that the Hornets are more talented than any of the remaining 8 teams.

Talent without experience is another.

Experience gets teams the favorable whistles.  Experience prevents critical errors in close games.  Experience is a huge factor.

Experience is that horrible taste in a team's mouth all season long losing deep in the playoffs.

I have argued with many of Laker fan that the Hornets are the most talented team in the league.

However, historically there is a pecking order of ascension in the NBA.  It is very rare that a new team comes out of nowhere to win it all.

The Hornets will be there for a while ..... trust me it takes time for a team to finally break through...
