It's pretty sad that a boxer in this case, DeLa Hoya  would hand pick his opponent  he might well have gotten a punching bag. De la Hoya has little chance against Mayweather my opinion ,after the last  circus they pulled  De La Hoya needs to retire period.

I personally would take boxing any day over the MMA which is not dominating PPV.  However, when you have DLH fighting nothing more than a punching bag, you have to question boxing.

This sport is more about marketing, hyperbole, and finding stiffs to pad your record.

If Boxing ever wants to be great then they need to get a single orgnization for each division and have mandatory bouts against top contenders in very short periods of time.

I have had enough of big name fighters fightings bums and fighting for years.  The champions and top contenders should be required to fight so many times a year and be forced to have at least half the fights against top contenders.

Boxing is going to have to change or it will continue it's decline.

Boxing also needs to fight a legimiate heavyweight champion as the heavyweight division has been a joke since Tyson was young.  we need another Ali, Frazier, or even Larry Holmes at this point as there are no great boxers in the heavyweight division.

DLH needed a tune-up fight before fighting Floyd, Jr., again.  Tune up fights have been part of boxing for years and years.  The most important thing the fight showed was that Oscar could go 12 full rounds without wilting as he did in his previous fights.

If he  comes into the fight in the same kind of shape, and is able to cotinually use his jab against Mayweather in September, I like his chances of winning the fight.  Mayweather is obviously a much better fighter than Forbes, but noone is unbeatable.

I don't think it would be a good idea for him to finish his career against Miguel Cotto in December.  That guy is scary.

I wasn't that inpressed with Oscar either. But saying that i still watched the fitght. Lets face it as long as people pay and watch , Oscar would be a fool not to keep on fighting. as foar as fightinhg Junior. don't  think Oscar can't find a way to pull one last one out.

DLH had to make one fight to get a probable rematch................He didn't make big $$$ (at least compared to his usual championship purses).............He fought without Pay Per View, so no one got suckered into another $50 waste of money.

What was anyone expecting from a non PPV fight?

And he can beat Mayweather IMO............They fought to a split decision their last match, and De La Hoya isn't a threat to be KO'd by Mayweather.  That will make him aggressive, and make it a great fight...............(unless Pretty Boy decides to try to make it a patty cake fight.)

Split decision cause the one judge was on crack. the other 2 didnt have the fight very close if you recall. DLH has NO SHOT of beating a real fighter, and he hasnt beat a legit fighter in a long time.

Actually I looked up the scorecards, and it was 116-112, 115-113, 113-115, but no ringside experts had it any closer than 116-112 which isnt a close firght really. Plus if you WATCHED it, you knew before the cards were read who won, dont be naive.
