I am against all types of animal suffering at the hands of mankind but am also intelligent enough to know there is currently no way to eradicate the bloodthirst gene from human DNA!

This may be precisely the reason we are the dominant species on the planet. (Just playing a bit of the “Devil’s advocate” here.)

Good posts...keep 'em coming.

LDD.....yes, to your reason and must add that having a thumb and walking upright keeps us on that dominant species level.....might also end up being the cause for our demise.....appreciate your reading my posts and you know I am always glad to hear from you!

billbadaz....your insulting comment lives up to your sn if that is your intent....however no one could possibly think your level of post comes close to anything except your sn.  Guess you think negative attention far surpasses no attention at all.

Horses are smart, not as smart as dogs, cats, pigs, etc.....but in comparison to many humans the aforementioned animals are all in the Einstein category!

All i was saying i guess is that humans dying seems to be lower on our list of importance than a horse.  Tell me thats not the dumbest thing in the world.  Animals are wonderful, some of them i like more than most humans, but when it comes down to it i would save the human that i disliked before i would save the dog.  Just how i feel.

FEARTHECHOMP.....you are correct re people are clueless as that is the human condition.  However, though I am not a member of PETA, I think your insulting the org. could be in the category of "clueless" - as they do alot of good though they are but human so not perfect.

Are you stating that you do not care about innocent life suffering?....therefore do not care to hear about how society should be less abusive... Rather than attempting to degrade those who are trying to make this planet a less brutal place you could be doing something to help the cause.....but it does take a level of maturity to realize reality.

Michiganfn1......re a human dying seems to be lower on our list of importance than a horse....I can state in my opinion it would depend on who the human is! - I would never ever consider someone like Hitler to be on my list of someone's life to be more important than a horse's.

To be born human is no great accomplishment as we had nothing to do with that choice!.....as is true of horses, dogs, cats.

Totally agree with you re animals are wonderful and also with your stating that you like some of them more than you like most humans.....the difference is that I like all animals as none of them have caused any of mankind's flaws.....they are innocent, do not have a voice and are at the mercy of people.

Horses ARE beautiful animals.   My time around horses has taught me why the indians thought they were brothers.

Not only is three years old too young to pound these animals this way, the racers may, in fact, be younger than that.

All race horses have a birthdate of January 1.  A little math may well show that a horse could be almost a year younger than that to qualify for these races.

I love horse racing.  I do not like horse killing.  In the name of a tradition, the authoirites of horse racing make the same errors year after year.

Of course, the answer is simple.  Make the race a four year old event.  That way, maybe these horses can live that long.

Look at the history of horses trained by D Wayne Lukas.  Not much longevity there.

Look at the great Cigar.  He showed nothig until he was four.  There's a reason for that
