And also..................you wont find a true O's fan that said this was a lopsided trade.  When it happened, most of us believed that the Astros got a good SS in Tejada, the the O's got 5 prospects that could hopefully one day become a great addition to this team.  But I guess you wouldn't know that by just dropping in and throwing your 2 cents around....................and what did you say "you love it when somebody makes them self sound stupid??"  HAHA!!

and of course we knew the the Astros had to know or at least suspected Tejada was in the report...................If fans suspected it, I sure hope baseball GM's know about it.

Here is a funny perspective for everyone.

The Orioles unloaded 15 million from the books in 2008 and 15 million off the books for 2009.  They were able to get 5 players and unload 30 million dollars while still finishing with similar results while Miguel Tejada was with the Orioles.  In my mind, that makes Andy a bandit no matter how he performs with the Astros.  He could win the triple crown, but it still made it a great deal for the Orioles.  Matt Albers is pitching well enough to stay in the rotation and it is not as if he was given 5 years with the Astros to make his case to stick on the roster.  He had a short window and more time proves he is a major league arm.  Troy Patton is suppose to be the same, but he is injuried and un-proven yet.  Only time will tell about his future.  When in spring training though, coaches were getty when he threw.  I saw him throw and the boy had pop and some sharp stuff.  Dennis Safarte is another young arm.  He has show some glimpes of being the guy with the make-up to become a closer down the road.  He has gotten out of a few jams, but still makes poor choices.  He is young, but he shows alot of promise.  Luke Scott is no Miggy, but his stats are on par with him over his last two seasons with the Orioles.  I give that Tejada is a better all around player, but Scott has show the ability to be an everyday fielder (unlike most who thought he was suspect).  He is a stricky hitter, but when he is hot he is scorching.

I hope Miggy does well, but in the long run he did not help the Orioles until they traded him for a ton of cash and a few current role players with two that look to be key players down the road.  If Patton pans out, it is icing on the cake.  I was glad the day that his distractions were abolished when he was traded.  No more "I" type personalities taking over the clubhouse.  It means that other veterns starting buying into Dave's team phiolosphy such as Brian Roberts, Melvin Mora, Aubrey Huff, etc.....

I guess the Astros feel as if they got the better end of the deal, but 30 million and three 25 man roster sports make me feel great about the trade still to this day.  The day the Astros fail to make in-roads to winning is the day they will see the not so happy Miggy.  The one that starts to become a thorn in the organization side.  Everything is rah-rah as of the moment, but the honeymoon does not last forever.  This town had the same ideas for two and half years with him here unitl things started to go south.  Soon after, so did is bat and glove.  It was time for a change and I think the Orioles made great strides when he left and a few new faces arrived.

Team2Pass and Sess - You two seem to be the only ones competent in this whole post.  I just don't know if I'll ever get the point across.  Sess you seem to think that an "average" player is a bad thing.  How do you categorize most players.  They either suck, are an average player, or a star player.  Sure you can argue the different levels of suck/average/star, but that would be a fair assestment of how to categorize a player.  And Team2Pass I KNOW we took on a big contract.  I KNOW we gave up prospects to do so.  I KNOW some people  might think these prospects might achieve great things.  BUT the Astros want to win NOW.  Guys why can't you just understand that the Astros have already commited to winning, we signed Carlos Lee to a big contract, we have Roy O, and Berkman under big contracts, so we have to win now.  We can't sit on prospects and HOPE that one day they'll be good enough to help us make the playoffs.  NO, that's bad business.  You take the things you don't value much, and you try to get better NOW!  I don't care how old he is, he's under contract for two years.  He was a bad apple in Baltimore, well he was unhappy, if he gets unhappy here, then we'll have to deal with it.  It's the risk you take when you trade for a player anyway.  Just like the risk you take when you trade a star for 5 prospects.  Just like the risk you take when you trade for Randy Johnson giving up 2 future AllStars and not signing him to an extension at the end of the year.  Can we all agree on this?

Dragon Rider - you're right Andy is LEET, that's why the owner was thinking about canning him, or so that's what was said in the offseason.  I don't know a lot about Ed Wade and his tactics, and I know for sure you don't know crap about him.  But I do know that the Astros farm system sucked hard core, and I do know that he drafted and kept an 2 MVPs, and 3-4 AllStars, so he must be doing something right.

Skezzer - I too was being sarcastic.  It seemed to me that since you were so good a "laying it thick" that you would have seen mine.  I guess I was too busy being a "moron" to realize your ignorance.  I apologize for that.  Sorry you didn't understand my money "parable".  It's okay, people way back when didn't understand parables unless they were humble, so I'll break it down nice and easy.  Astros did not value the 5 players like the Orioles did.  They wanted to win NOW, 5 prospect no help them win now.

tydreamer.............I dont even think I red your "money parables".................I'm not wasting my time with hot air.  I'm just saying, nobody is saying the Astros didn't get what they want............it just came at a pretty steep price.  I mean come on, the deal happened more than 5 months ago..................move on with it.  We wont know who got the better of the deal until years from now, stop wasting time.

I take offense to as only being the two competent people in this entire post.

Here is competence. "The Astros want to win now" They aren't winning they are two games over .500; good for only 3rd in their own division and a game and a half out of the wild card. It still early so the fact that you even posted this comment is not too smart.

The post was made to offend Orioles fans to make us feel stupid that we LOved the Tejada trade. We still love it. We do not need to win now. This season doesn't matter. Post this again in 3 years. When the Astros still haven't won a championship or probably won't even make the playoffs. Thats said with a huge payroll (one of the most potent lineups in all of MLB, and a decent pitching staff). That sucks to spend so much money and have nothing to show for it.

Kind of sounds like the Yankees theory since 2000.

Cblong21 - sorry you took offense but, but your last post doesn't unsupport what I'm saying.  The Astros are just two games over .500, but not because of Tejada.  He's doing his job with his bat and his glove.  Unfortunately our bullpen had a VERY slow start (they alone have blown 6 games for us with us winning after 6 innings).  I was not arguing the fact that in three years you wouldn't be a better team.  In fact if I'm cheering for these players to do well, wouldn't that be me thinking that you had a chance to be better?

Skeezer - You're right, drop it......

Who's fought is it for all of the blown saves? Didn't you guys also make a trade for Valverde? Watch out Ed Wade is at it again!!!

You have to be able to close the games for them to go down in the standings as a win.

Honeslty, I like watching the Astros play I think that they are a top 3-5 team in the N.L. If the pitching is not there though you guys won't be able to make a run.

I honeslty wish you guys good luck.

Wade did trade a lot for Valverde, and when he blew his first 3 of 4 saves, trust me the Astro Nation, and me were not happy.  Not that I was too bummed that we gave up Burke or Gutierrez, but I was sad to see Qualls leave.  I got to meet him when he was pitching for the AAA team and he was a really cool guy.  Plus he has some decent stuff.  But all is well with Valverde now.  In fact even though your reliever has more saves, Valverde has almost the same stats...except more than double Sherrill's strikeouts.

But you do have one thing right...we sure could use some pitching.
