Brewers lose soundly tonight. I was happy to see both Oswalt and Valverde tag up for the win and save. Hopefully the Astros are coming together in all phases of there game and these type of wins become routine. Not to mention I tend to enjoy any Brewer lose to anybody , anyttime , or anywhere.

Valverde looked good. Oswalt was a little shaky. But I does loves me a win, regardless of how it comes. And while it was nice that we finally found out where the crawford boxes are, we're gonna need to find a way to manufacture runs without depending on the long-ball.

Great to see Pence showing some power again though.

Anyways, here's hoping for a strong showing by Backe tomorrow. We're gonna need a great game from him, because we've got Sampson going against Sheets on Tuesday. That one might not turn out all that well.

Why so much animosity towards the Brewers? They're probably the closest thing to the Astros in the Central. No World Series wins... just those two teams.

I'd rather the Brewers win the Central than the Cubs, that much I know.

But anyway... it was a good game, yes. I didn't watch a single drop, but I did catch half the game on the radio. Nifty homerfest. From the sounds of it, Hunter Pence's final homer that took the score to 7 runs was a long shot to deep left-center off the facade, not even relying upon the Crawford Boxes, too... so... there's a homer in just about any park (cept maybe Petco).

In all fairness I do not think the Astros will win the division but the Brewers are standing between us and a potential wildcard spot.  You wont find me being too happy about any Cub wins either. Basically, I need a clear shot to the playoffs. So... as it turns out my animosity is well placed. I believe 500 ball is right around the corner. Go Stros !

Oh, one question, because I didn't see the play:

How on earth does Michael Bourn ground into a double play?

i saw that double play nash...

he just hit it hard towards 2nd and it was almost like they didn't even throw it to 2nd it was turned so fast.  but with bourn's speed it's still a tough task.

valverde has his era down to 6.  that's about half of what it was early.  still stuck on 3 blown saves--he has really turned it around from that awful beginning.  good news for our bullpen.

Pence walk-off! Hell yea!

Great job by the bull-pen today (aside from you, Borkowski). How often do you win an extra-innings game when your starter only goes three and a third? That was a great effort by Wesley Wright, Geary, Brocail, Valverde, and even Byrdak.

And of course, Berkman is a mean slugging monster, yet he's not afraid to trot out an infield single. He's a legitimate MVP candidate right now. Utley and Chipper Jones have to cool down eventually, right? And Berkman is one of the best second-half hitters in baseball; his post all-star break OPS is a hundred points higher than pre all-star break.

Anyways, hurrah for the first sweep of the season. And you've gotta love when it comes against a division rival. Especially when it brings you back to .500. Now let's get Towles and Bourn to the batting cages so we can sweep the Nats when they come into town.

Here, here. 500 ball feels pretty good. Tejada seems well adjusted and happy to be in Houston and that can only mean better production. This team is looking pretty good. What a game !
