Hey guys,

I heard that some of the 4 star recruits that are considering Rutgers are a little gun shy because rumors have been circulated that Schiano is heading to PSU when it opens up.  Anyone have some insight or hear anything similiar?

Thanks

I don't doubt that it's in the back of a couple of kids' minds, but for the most part, I don't think it's much of an issue.

They always say that this time of year about Schiano when our class seems to be lagging behind. Two years ago, everyone said it was because he was taking the Miami job. Last year, it was because he was taking the Nebraska job.
Our classes always start out slow like this, and then eventually kick into gear during the summer.

Like I said, I'm not in every kid's head to know what they're thinking, but for the most part, I think the rumors aren't really an issue.

I think Tom Savage has and will continue to be a big help with this.  He mentioned that kids he's spoken to do have this concern.  He's also stated that he's spoken at length with Schiano about this and is convinced there's nothing to worry about.

the only job that worries me is penn state. but i dont think paterno is leaving until his doctors tell him to stop and penn state defintly cant ask him to leave even if the team has struggled he's the reason that penn state is a top school to consider same with bowden in FSU how can they possibly ask these guys to leave there living legends.

You guys are worrying for no reason. Schiano isn't leaving. Instead of taking the place of Paterno, He going to pull a Paterno and stay with RU for the long haul.

Coaches always say these kind of things to get recuits.  I'm sure Schiano is saying to kids don't go to Penn St. because you don't know if Joe Pa will still be there in 4 years.  The kids just have to see through all the BS and go to the school they like best.

I would like to think that Schiano will stick w/ RU if/when the penn state position opens up... I mean money shouldnt be a factor as he gets a fat check from RU... facilities shouldnt be a factor being we are pretty much state of the art and designed by him... stadium size shouldnt be an issue as we are expanding ours to be above 50k (yeah i know penn state is 2x the size but still).... fan base shouldnt be an issue as we just had a 99% renewal rate and still have 11,000 people on the waiting list... quality of the team shouldnt be a factor because we are getting better and better recuits every season and our program is getting better every year as well... and  lastly he turned down jobs at Miami and Michigan to continue at RU...yeah i know penn state is the last of the monsters that could pull him away but hes also a jersey boy and a celeb in jersey too boot...all of the above tells me hes in it for the long hall... then again i was foolish enough to think rice wouldnt be blinded by the dollar and would come back for his senior year too... hehe

Shiano has every reason to stay with us. Rutgers is in a recruiting hotbed and the only team in a 150 mile radius that has a winnig team is Uconn who cant compete with us in a recruiting race. The second and third closest teams are Maryland and Penn St. Maryland takes a few of our kids but a school like Penn St. we would have never been able to win a recruiting race with. Now we got a kid like Savage. This goes to show you how far we have come. The only other BigEast teams that lies in a recruiting hotbed is South Floride but they have to compete with MIami, Florida, and Florida St. and Pitt but they have to compete with Penn St. West Virginia and Ohio St. we dont have any in-state competition. And in some cases such as Tome Savage and Eric Shrive, Rutgers is the closest bigtime University even though they're from PA. With all these thing favoring us, I think that in the next three years we will have the best recriuting classes in the BigEast and before 2020, we will make a BCS game.
