I know that Dodd hates the Big Ten and especially Michigan, but you have to hand it to him this time - it takes quite an effort to work in about 5 digs at Michigan in his 25 item list. Methinks Dodd dost protest too much. I realize that it is chic among sports hacks like Dodd to pile on Michigan these days, but this is ridiculous. What's the matter Dennis? Did your girlfriend run away with a Michigan fan? Oh, right . . . you are a sportswriter, you likely don't have a girlfriend.
tUoOS are dominators of Michigan? Wow Dodd, that is incredibly perceptive. Yes, they have been on a roll lately against us, but the record is deceptive. Two years ago we were one cheesy late hit call away from playing for the NC instead of the buckeyes. Most of the games have been close, generally turning on a single piece of improvisation by Troy Smith. Boeckman is no Troy Smith, and TP will be taking over a relatively young team, so it that period of dominance might be coming to an end (although the deck seems stacked against us this year).
GaTech is implemeting a new system under a proven new coach, so they will be great in two years, but Michigan implements a new system under a proven new coach and it will be a long, slow process?
? vs. ? for the Michigan QB position? I know that you are a terrible writer, but even you should at least be able to mention Threet. Michigan's QBs are unproven? So are the QBs of a lot of other teams.
RR needs to work on the roster? I guess that is what he was doing with a top 10 recruiting class this year. And by getting commitments from two of the top dual threat QBs in the nation for next year. And by adding more speed than Michigan has probably ever seen before. Gee, why didn't he think of working on the roster? Once again, Dodd is terribly insightful.
Could this year be a struggle? Sure. It could be anything, including a pleasant surprise. The team will be far better conditioned than in recent years, and will be running a system against which much of the Big Ten has struggled. The defense returns a lot of talent, and adds some new young talent. It might be easy to write us off, but you would have to be an idiot to overlook Michigan in any year, even a transition one. Then again, Dodd is an idiot, so it all fits. . .
