Who should get time? Julio Lugo is... well... Lugo. Lowrie is young and the future. He is also hitting better than Lugo. You could make the argument that there will be a lack of speed but there wouldn't be. Lugo is having a good season... for him. Lowrie needs the big league experience and he should get some at the expense of Lugo. I know it is hard to say good-bye to $9 million from Lugo but I wouldn't mind seeing these sacrifices being made.

Man, I hate to say it but I really do not like Julio" I got it no matter where I am on the field" Lugo. He just bugs me? I know he is pretty good but he bugs the crap out of me.

Man I hear what you're saying. Mostly last year. This year too but at least he is doing decent this year. I would still love to see Lowrie at short over Julio. Or in any matter, anyone at short over Julio. The only thing that is keeping me from wanting that more is fact that we are paying him over $9 million. Its really hard to just get rid of that kind of money.

Well the only knock I have seen on Lowrie thus far is this range. Too be honest Lugo makes all the plays a MLB shortstop should make(usually). But I don't see him as having exceptional range or defense. Plus I think the Sox could turn more double plays with Lowrie as he has a monster arm for a shortstop. That being said, I'd rather have Lowrie's OBP over the speed that Lugo brings to the table. Especially with the bonus that a doubles, gap to gap type power Lowrie brings to the offense. Those are just my thoughts though.

I agree mostly since last night Lugo got his 9th error of the season. He has a .919 fielding percentage. That is 46 points below his career average. He never had a Range Factor below 4 and he has a 3.49 this year. He is awful and we need to get rid of him.

I like Lowrie a lot, too, but you guys need to get real. Lugo is here through 2010. His batting average and OBP are actually a tad higher than Lowrie's. His fielding hasbeen poor this year, though. Here's what's going to happen: Lowrie will go back to Pawtucket when Cora/Casey return, and he'll spend June-August there, barring injuries. On Sept. 1, he gets called back up, and he makes the team in 2009 when the Sox do not offer a new contract to Cora.

I think the Sox need to get Jed in the lineup in late July a la Jacoby.  A burst of energy to keep the team going through the duldrums of mid summer and into the play-offs.  I've been complaining about Lugo all winter and he hasn't let me down.

I'm not a Lugo fan but his experience is nessesary. If I had a choice I'd bring back Orlando. OC44!

Seems like it was just last week we were thinking... why are they playing Dustin Pedroia - put in Alex Cora!     I know Julio had a less than stellar year last year, and is off to a poor fielding year this year, but remember, it's still May.    Give him another month or so, before you hang him out to dry.   Is Jed Lowrie ready to play in The Show every day?   Not sure yet... but until you're going to be able to let him play every day for the Boston Red Sox, let him get in some more time at Pawtucket or something, but make sure he keeps seeing reps at both 3B and SS, maybe even try him out at other positions.   This kid is the future (hopefully near future, as my patience is rapidly wearing out with Lugo too).
