Peter Gammons says Angels are best team in AL

Peter Gammons stated that he thinks the Angels are the best team in the AL.

I can see why this could be especially when we get Lackey back.  The Angels have done nothing but delivered.  The meat of the order is slumping and when they come around I think they'll be unstoppable.

What do you guys think?

Did he really?  That's awesome.  Gammons has always been the only expert to actually pay attention to the AL West teams as legitimate contenders.  Everyone else refuses to believe that someone other than the Yankees or Red Sox are capable of winning the series. 

I definitely think that we are the best team in the AL once we get Lackey back tonight.  Losing Escobar really hurt but Santana and Saunders have picked up the slack there.  Ervin is going to have a huge year.  Garrett and Vladdy are starting to hit finally, Maicer is back now, Moseley is ready to come back, and Figgy should be ready next week.  The only real question mark left is Kendrick, who is now battling some scar tissue.  But I think this is the team to beat in the AL.  Boston is a force and Cleveland is coming on now with 4 shut outs in the past 7 games, but the Angels have the most complete team.  (And if Escobar can make it back too?  Oh Nelly!)

I personally think Gammons is right and wrong at the same time because our Angels are not only the best team in the A.L., but they are the best damn team in baseball.
