I just read that Avery Johnson has been fired by the Mavericks.  If D'Antoni does not return to the Suns next year, what do you think about Avery Johnson coming in?  He has been coaching in the Western Conference.  Also, he played in the Western Conference under Poppovich, when he won a title with the Spurs.  Maybe he could help get over that hump as well.

I don't know, all I know is that the Suns need a good sence of direction, and now.

They might go with him but I would doubt it.  The Suns would have to ask themselves why they replaced an offensive minded coach with a penchant for playoff disappointment, with a defensive minded coach with the same. Especially considering the current make-up of the Suns roster, they have some of the best offensive players in the league, but very few will become good defenders.

I know people will say AJ made it to the Finals and the officials stole it from him...so he can get it done, but in fairness to Mike , most Suns fans think his title was stolen from him as well. I think they should keep D'antoni and look for a poor man's Marion type player in the draft. Can't blame the Suns failures on both the ref's and D'antoni, if the refs hurt them...he did his job.

i wouldnt take avery johnson for a million dollars. we need to give d'antoni another season. the thing is that we already have 76 million in money guaranteed next season so what we had this year is basically it for next year. strawberry and pierschitzky(not sure how to spell it ) is the only ones we can unload. we have no draft picks for 2010 or this year i believe. i would like to see a trade maybe. Barbosa for Artest. or maybe J R smith. this next year should be very interesting.

We have the 15th overall pick, which we should package with Diaw and trade down in the draft to get a franchise player to pair with STAT.

We would probably have to add another player with Diaw and the draft pick as well.

It looks like Mike D'antoni is going to the Bulls. Avery Johnson looks like the only logical choice to me unless Detroit falters down the stretch and doesn't make it to the NBA finals and they decide to fire Flip Saunders.
