How many Presidental Candidates have played basketball with local folks? I will tell you the truth I really like this guy and think he could be the answer to the mess we are currently in. Our country couldn't be in any worse shape. We change and we need it soon. Another republican will continue the downward path we have taken the last 8 years. Who to blame is another question, I just feel so much hope when I listen to Obama speak or when I read articles like these.
Great write up.

He's such a great person that he has been subjecting his two young daughters to Rev Wright their entire lives. This Wright guy preaches things like the US gov't created AIDS to kill black people in his church.
Hopefully Obama did better at basketball than bowling (score-37). He may be slightly better than John Kerry at pretending to be a regular guy.

I hope you're not one of the fools who voted for Bush because you thought he was a regular guy. Yes, he owns an ranch and from Texas. But he also comes from New England old money and is a Yale legacy. Anyone can buy a ranch in Texas and run an oil business and baseball team into the ground. It don't make them a good ol' boy.

Gimme a break! Too many politicians are using sports, both college and pros, for their own personal agenda. The BCS and MLB are proof of it already. I really get sick of politicians because they are all liars and theives anyway, there is no Mr. Smith anywhere near Washington D.C. The only way they got elected was by lying and once they get in office all they do is steal from the common working man. But I digress, if he was gonna play ball with a team to show he was a common guy; why not play with ANY team from Illinois or in a YMCA rec league? Sorry too many politicians are insincere, no matter what their party, and I don't want 'em involved in sports as a way to promote themselves or their own agenda.

I am not real sure that the North Carolina Mens Final Four Basketball team, with numerous NBA players, is really comprised of "normal" guys. It is good to see someone reaching out to youth, but this is really a political ploy in North Carolina, not to say that I wouldn't do the same thing. I agree with the general gist though, we definitely need change and need a democrat. At this point, I just hope whoever wins the nomination has enough left in the tank to take out McCain.

Obama is the real thing and America needs to take this chance and elect a great president. Maybe he even told Lawson, Green and Ellington to get their heads out of their asses and go back to college.
GO HEELS & OBAMA!

The United States did knowingly give Syphilis to black men in Tuskegee, Alabama in the 20th century so why is it to incredibly abhorrent for him to suggest the same about AIDS? just because the United States is a great country doesnt mean our government hasnt done some questionable things. the aids thing may not be true but that doesnt man wright is the antichrist for saying it

bserk- how old are you? do yourself a favor and contact Mr. Wright and get the whole story before believe the bias with an agenda. Not to mention that Obama's pastor should have no revelance on his abilites to be president. His pastor is not his VP candidate. You must understand that we have had more people in office who have overtly committed racial crimes. Just look at your forefathers ignornace of counting colored people 3/5ths of a peron in the US Constitution. All the attention Rev. Wright has received has empowered him as you have brought him up here. He is ten times more famous now than he was over a miscontrued statement. If there is one thing I know, it is that AAs do not preach hate towards other races. The black panther party organization is the only AA organization that has preached hate of the European American. Our history is fabricated in whites preaching hate in their churches against blacks. There are still churches today that do not really want blacks to attend. Rev. Wright is a very intelligent man and I mean extremely intelligent, don't allow a biased media create your viewpoints of people or the world. You probably think every muslim is evil or a terrorist too?
Gullible minds put people in office Bush, who has ruined this country over the last 8 years. McCain is just like Bush and if we vote republican again, we will hit a major catastrophe like you have never seen.
Personally, I am republican but there is no way I vote republican this year. It is about the right candidate this year because this country is in trouble. After two Bushes and mass wars, deaths and debt I am voting for Obama without question. I use to like Hillary until she used to negative campaigning as her main point. I want a person who has something to say about the direction this country should take, not about digging up dirt on people. We need leadership, we need change and we need Obama for President.
Playing basketball may be a ploy but atleast he is playing the games. That speaks volumes for me. The Tarheel team is certainly not famous to me as any of you can goto campus or a nightspot and catch them out. They are local folks in Durham, just becuase they play on tv does not make them anything special.
Lastly, bsekr- I am sure Obama didn't just join Rev. Wrights church. This wasn't an issue until he decides to run for office. He is an excellent Senator and no said a word, that in and of itself should tell you ignornance brought his pastor into | |
