Now that Zito will be rendered to short relief, we have a staff of Lincecum the ace, Cain,
2nd ace, even though he's had some bad games, kind of a Drysdale, how I hate to say that,
Sanchez, Velez, Misch
And what a bullpen, with short relief , Yabu, Taschner, Walker, Hennessey, Williams, ??

Hey SFFAN .... who is this pitcher Velez? I agree with you that Zito can not stay in the rotation though. Not without conceding a loss and that is not acceptable, even with this year's team. The younger players are showing promise, so taking a loss every fifth day because the starter is throwing batting practice to the other team isn't going to work out for anyone. The effort of the younger players will diminish. I don't know if something physically is wrong with Zito, but he should be shut down for the season (DL) until something is figured out by management.

Answer to a question, Velez is I don't know, maybe a figment of my imagination, I meant the fireballing reliever, Merken, and you missed the closer, Brian Wilson, not of beach boy fame, nor is his name Williams, I need a course on being a Giant Fan, ah well, I try and I like what I see, Zito is going to shine in the bullpen, but he still isn't going to want to stay here, his loss to Fresno will be way behind him, they won't do it to him, next year, let's cheer for him every time he hits the mound and forget his starts, after all he did say yes to the bullpen

Zito is going to LONG relief, not short relief. In other words, he comes in when a starter pulls a Zito. This will help immensely by stopping the bullpen burnout that Zito was causing. Cain, Linsecum et al will pitch more comfortably knowing the bullpen hasn't been burned out in a prior game, needing to fill in for 7-8 innings. If the young dudes can get 6 innings a game every start, what a difference it will mean. Now Cain and Sanchez need to learn how to cut down their pitch counts by getting some quicker outs, but that's part of the maturing process for pitchers.

You don't need a course on being a Giant Fan ... you are SFFAN! Sorry, I didn't mean to give you any grief there. I agree with you about the pitching staff too. They're sure doing well, although it's early. Valdez has really good stuff and is looking like a nice 7th or 8th inning guy with Walker next and closing with the beach boy, Brian Wilson. Wouldn't it be nice ...

I think Barry Zito should pitch batting practice for John Bowker and get him out of his hitting slump. Or vice versa ... maybe? One way or another, it might help.

Hey thanks, yeah I am a long time Giants fan, a die hard, but, I like what I see, even on the controversial balk call, if other teams have to win on bloopers, then were holding them from putting on their socks so to say, and out bats can trinkle away to 1 -0, 2 -1, 3-2, 4-3, victories, I'll take em, in fact we need a couple in the coming days over, Victorino and fleas,
that is Feliz and no Felipe, I didn't commit blasphame, I was being lighthearted about our ex-player who had some clutch hits and many missed swats, good luck to him outside the Giant series.

Just a question SFFAN ... about the trip to Pennsylvania (Phil & Pitt), what would you like to see? wins & losses that is. I'd be thrilled with a 3-3 trip. Do you think that's too optimistic?

The Giants in time past have owned Philadelphia, Kent, Bonds, Auerelia, Mitchell, but over the last three years that has changed, the Phillies have hit them well, but that was last year, I'll have to have a wait and see on the first game, we have as good as chance as others, I need to look at who Phillie has played, if they've struggled with teams we do well against, then I think that gives us momentum. Pittsburg is another place, where the Pirates look like Central Division Champions against us, we just can't figure out Freddy Sanchez, nor their shorstop, and any young kid they seem to be bringing along, (Remember Bonds hit 3 against us in one game), but we didn't bring Matt Williams with us, we've brought a new hungry crew, I think that can get it done in Pittsburg, 2 -1, 3-2, 4-3 scores, I'll take it.
Phillie, unfortunately does look like a 50/50 deal, doggone it, but it could go either way,
because of Giants pitching and Phillies bats

Yeah I am so happy with the way we ended the month. We have been playing some real good baseball, our speed has continued to pay off. I think Zito in the long relief role is going to be great. Like some of you previousley said this is going to be great to save some of those arms in the pen that have been worked so much already coming in for Zito. Any time one of our pitchers pulls a Zito, we will have good ole Barry come in to help out the pen a bit.
