Grading this stuff cracks me up.  Everyone is jumping on the Cowboys, Chiefs, and Dolphins bandwagon from the draft.  I am not saying that each did not have a good draft but really no one knows right now.  Fact is that these big names in round one and round two typically do not make drafts successful, it is not completely busting on top 10 picks and finding the second day gems which is unknown until they play.  Just to play devils advocate here is why I would not like the top picks from the three teams everyone is praising:

1. Dolphins - They took an OL with the first pick and are paying him the largest salary for an OL in the history of the NFL.  He is going to be asked to play on a side of the line he is not accustomed to playing and according to many experts his grade is no where near other OL taken in the top 5 and not that much better than those taken in the 12 - 18 range this year that will make 1/2 as much giving those teams more money to invest in other key peices.  They got a DE that has not dominated in a weak conf, and got a Qb with a long delivery, and never really put it all together when I having the top OL, a soon to be pro RB, and soon to be pro WR.  He peaked at the right time in a bowl game against FL.  It is easy to look good when you have the top pick in the draft.  Everyone is just stroking Parcell's ego.  Dolphins will draft in the top 10 and most likely top 5 again next year like they typically do.

2.  Chiefs - I am a big Dorsey fan but lets not deem him the next Deacon Jones just yet.  He does have leg issues and has for a couple of years and will now have to play through it against OL that are all pros and huge men like him so it will take more then pure strength to overcome competition.  He could be good for a short period of time and then his injuries will catch up to him.  The Alberts pick is another OL that will be asked to play a position on the line he did not play in college.  If all heturns out to be is a really good guard then he was a HUGE reach since most Guards do not go in rd 1.

3.  Cowboys - They passed on a stud RB for a college back up RB b/c of where he played.  Personally I like thier RB choice on day two better in Choice.  I am a UGA fan so for me to speak well of a GT player is not typical.  I think the Cowboys went in the the draft with a team close to getting to the SB and RB was a need to but a glaring need.  Plenty of RB's were deep in this draft and RD 1 picks should have been used to fill more pressing defensive needs on a team that has no problem scoring points.  I know they were making up for losing Jones but it is not like Jones was a big piece of the Cowboys offense.  I thought they should have gone defense on both round one picks or even tried to move up and grag and even more elite round one def pick.

And before anyone gets mad at me and wants to take shots at my team I can do that for you.  I like the Falcons, by birth not by choice, and we used our round one pick for mainly business and marketing reasons.  We all know that the Raven coveted Ryan and were will to trde up for him.  Personally I am using my picks to trade and get a pick to get Ellis and then move back into RD one high enough to get one of the tackles that went before the reach pick we traded up for in Baker.  I am not saying Ryan will not be a good QB.  I think he is a leader and does not compare well to Alex Smith who ran a spread offense in college or Leaf who had the tools but did not have it b/w the ears.  My question is will be be a Phillip Rivers who is no P. Manning but worth his top 5 pick or will be be Joey Harrington.  Plus my Falcons did not once address TE or DL in the draft which was needed with the off season losses we had.

Paulig13 there is no certainity to whether or not Williams would stay healthy in dallas. But i would rather take him for 12 games and have Patrick Crayton fill in whe he is injured then have Crayton there for the full season and have the 4th, 5th, and 6th wideouts have to play more. Williams has never mised more then 5 games a season and is averaging a TD every other game so i think thats a gamble worth looking into.

The Rams get no love. The brass of the rams must be thrilled. They drafted their top rated defensive lineman and WR (rd 1 and rd2). In middle rounds they got 2 quality OL a defensive back (that underachived) a WR Kentucky guy who looked great on film before injuries. And a coulple of LB's in 7th round.

They drafted areas of weakness. I hope they pan out cause on paper the draft looked promising.

Sorry it posted itself. As I was saying...The experts can say what they want. Ireland already said that Long is going to be playing on the left side. That is his side. As for Chad Henne he has not peaked. I like what Ireland had to say about him. Henne had more come from behind 4th quarter wins than all the other QBs in the draft. Merling is an outstanding player. He only fell from the mid-first round due to a sports hernia surgery. He's gonna be fine. You can't use a conference a player played in as a guage on how they will do in the NFL. I've seen a lot of Big 12 and SEC flops. Jason Taylor played at Akron. All the linemen BP and Ireland drafted are smart, strong and tough.

The 2008 draft is final and of course the question comes up Who did best?

On paper is one thing, but to really determine who did the best, takes the players getting on the field and finding out if projections on these prospects is right or wrong. I have seen too many players who bust despite being the best college athlete or what.

Time will tell as the RBs were plentiful and the QB's were off this year. The wide Receiver crop was fair. The 2008 draft had many very good offensive linemen which does not not bode well for the elite positions. Too many good running backs on paper, but how many will be the next Curtis Enis?  Again Time will tell.

I think this years draft will bring more questions than answers.

The Chiefs signed the most talent and starters and big time prospects, but i go with the Raiders,jk. Chiefs had by far the best draft as almost every expert and poll will show, basically signed two top 10's, the #1 overall on half the leagues board, and 3 1st rounders with Flowers at 35. 1st 3 picks equal 3 future probowlers. Go Chiefs 2010!!!!

Easily the Chiefs had the best draft. They'll be set up long term with these picks.

I think im being too much of a homer here, but im gonna say the Dolphins did. No doubt a good selection in Jake Long who will be a future pro bowler. Merling was first predicted to be a mid-first round pick until he got injured which dropped his draft stock to the second round, but he will still be an effective defensive factor. Also, Chad Henne might actually not be a bust for us, and can actually be a starting QB as a rookie.

Take the Redskins off the list, they had one of the poorer drafts and I'm actually a fan of the team.
