I believe this is one of the best off seasons for detroit in a long time. We didn't go after the high profiled guys and chose some tough players with good heads on their shoulders. Sure we may have been able to trade down further for Gosder, but why chance it. We really bolstered our offense, while picking up some defensive players that will play over some guys already "on" the team. It will be interesting to see who is cut this summer or placed on the practice squad.
I am a die-hard Detroit Fan, Born and raised, and I haven't found or heard one good thing about our draft class, We get a second round player in the first, and tiny linebacker in the second, and a slow runningback in the third. Just like always, the lions find a way to screw it up, they just did it differently then usual. Where in the past they would have picked a big name flop that everyone can make fun of, now we are drafting no-names who won't be remembered long enough to embarrass the lions. I guess I all I have to root for now is a plane crash involving Matt Millen, and william clay ford. and to answer your question the whole team looks like they could be on a practice squad, for another team, or cut. we are a bigger embarrassment to the NFL then spygate times Pacman.
wow..encyclopedia, you sure sound like a lions fan with all that bashing. now i am actually a lions FAN, so not all hope is lost for me and my football team.
while i will agree that millen and ford are jokes, i wouldn't say this draft was a total bust. gosder was a reach that early but we addressed a need in the oline. and many projected kevin smith to be a late 1st, early second round pick so taking him in the 3rd seems like a steal to me. you don't get to be the nations leading rusher without being a good running back, even if you are "slow". last time i checked, barry was not the fastest guy in the world, nor was emmitt (in my opinion an inferior runner to barry regardless).
while i admit, our past drafts have had some subpar to low results so far, its nice to see an actual plan put into action with marinelli....do i predict the superbowl or even nfc championship game? no. but in the wide open north, we at least have a chance and are taking steps in the right direction. if you hate the lions so much, go be a fan of someone else...i believe the patriots still have room on their bandwagon for the frontrunner.
you are probably the same guy who says the wings are ALWAYS soft in the playoffs and gave up on the tigers after their poor start.... get a clue encylcopedia brown
Are you serious josh91? you have no clue what you are talking about, if you think our last few drafts were just sub-par. If you aren't willing to root for a superbowl championship/NFC Championship, then what is the point in being a fan, Real fans don't root for their team to be average. Hell average would be great for the Lion's. It's fans like you that have kept Millen in his job. Your Pie-eyed Optimism is laughable, if I wasn't crying so hard. I was born and raised in Detroit, So I bleed Honolulu Blue and silver, But the truth is still the truth. Still the funniest thing you wrote was that the North is wide open, Minnesota is making smart moves, the Packers won the division last year, and the bears were in the superbowl two years ago, and What have the Lions done? Nothing. What is the point in taking steps in the right direction if you also take giant leaps backward every year as well. The team has been terrible since the early to mid 90's, and every year the fans get excited about the Draft, and every year we say we had a good draft, and every year we are terrible, so get over yourself, true fans call it like they see it, they don't always love every move their team makes, especially when every move they make has been wrong for the last five years.
You are probably the same guy who said they loved the Idea of the Pistons changing their colors to teal.
And in case you didn't notice the wings were soft in the playoffs, which broke my heart, and what did we do about it? we got tougher, stronger, and more determined, and we hired the coach from a team that out toughed us one of those play-off years. And now we are again fighting for the cup, we didn't just say well we did our best, and wonder why people called us soft.
We agree on two things Barry is better than Emmitt, Millen and Ford are jokes. other than that you sound foolish talking about MICHIGAN's team's, when you are from Illinois.
If you are a transplant, please stay there.
