The Stadium at Rutgers does not hold 55,000 yet. I t will by 2009 or 2010! I tis more money for both teams when they play with a larger seating capacity. Both Rutgers & ND will benefit.

Yes in NYC you get these subway alumni who know nothing about college football who are just fans of Notre Dame.
Plus i know many people of Irish background who laugh about having to like Notre Dame.
They also say what percentage of the team and student body are IRISH and CATHOLIC?

Bottom line, ND doesn't benefit at all from playing Rutgers, but Rutgers could've benefited greatly. It's great that Rutgers took the pride approach, but sometimes you gotta swallow your pride for the benefit of the program. Uconn gets it, clearly Rutgers does not. Take your three TV games, if you don't want a fourth with twice as much pub as any of the first three, fine. As one member of the ND staff said, "we can find another team in 10 seconds." And trust me, it won't be Morgan State hahaha

Couldnt have said it better jagfan. And one again, people take shots at big bad ND for trying to do whats best for themselves. This is no different than people complaining about the NBC contract. ND will always get advantages in situations like this because of how marketable and popular they are. If you dont like it, fine. Lets see who ND and rutgers play in place of each other. ND will be able to find another rutgers no problem. Will rutgers be able to find another ND?
BTW, does anybody know what jerzeyballa is ranting about?

Bottom line is...
Notre Dame wants to play Rutgets you play at RUTGERS STADIUM and SOUTH BEND.
Rutgers doesnt need Notre Dame. Maybe 5 years ago. But not anymore.
Notre Dame is hoping for a 6-6 season.
My have times changed. And you ND subway alumni still dont get it.
This isnt 20 years ago.

ND fans make it seem like this is RU's only change to be on TV. Last year RU has 2 games on ABC, 6 games on ESPN and 4 games on MSG. So RU was on National TV eight times and regional TV 4 times, they don't NEED ND to be on TV one more time. RU would lose a minimum of $300K on parking moving the game to Giants Stadium, to mention what they would lose in concessions, busing the students to the games and what they would have to pay to rent Giant Stadium. Most importantly they lose homefield advantage. I would rather play a team like Wiscosin, Iowa, Northwestern etc. in Piscatway then play ND if it means wasting a home game on a neutral field.

Most importantly they lose homefield advantage. I would rather play a team like Wiscosin, Iowa, Northwestern etc. in Piscatway then play ND if it means wasting a home game on a neutral field. From what I heard the game at Giants Stadium would have been a "home" game for RU. And the deal was that parking and concessions sales would go to RU as well as half or more of the ticket sales. Now this is only what I heard and I could be wrong. But that doesn't sound to me that RU would lose out on anything.
Playing a ND team that was 3-9 or playing just about any other team, you are still going to draw more attention with the 3-9 ND for the game. I'm not mad that RU doesn't want to play, and I understand where they are coming from. There is also a lot of things that none of us know about that could have also been part of not making the deal. Who knows?
And are you guys seriously crying about ND "stealing" recruits from NJ? That is laughable!

Notre Dame is hoping for a 6-6 season. My have times changed. And you ND subway alumni still dont get it.This statement here is the ultimate irony, because it shows how much you dont get it. ND having a bad year last year has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the number of fans and publicity and attention and, ultimately, money, that ND wouldve brought into a ND-Rutgers series. Do you think rutgers wanted to play ND because ND is good, and so if they win, people would think they were good??? No. Its all about the money and benefits a team will get, and that isnt crushed by 1 bad season in south bend. Your inability to understand this makes me shake my head.
