To make myself more clear, I agree with Kol that Schroeder doesn't know squat. Although he may be right with Ben. In which case, he knows a little squat, but not enough to give him credit.

I dont know, the quotes I'm reading from Sheets seem to be a little less optomistic. dont think its a major injury, but I wouldnt be surprised to see him miss two or three starts.

Bernie...we can disagree, it's half the fun. But I'd take Soto over Kendall every single day of the week. It's not even close. You're forgetting that we Cubs fans had the opportunity to enjoy his 2HR a year power and noodle arm for half the year in 2007.
Trust me, when this year is over, these guys won't even be in the same discussion.
And I just had to find you with this Sheets thing, but in all seriousness, I hope he's okay. He's a great pitcher when healthy, and I'd like to go up against you guys at full strength.

I never said Kendall would out hit Soto, in fact I have stated the opposite several times. The Cubs chose Soto for his offense and it was the right call for that team. We signed Kendall for defense and handling the pitchers and that was the right move for the Brewers. We dont need Kendall to hit 20 HR, we have plenty of power. As far as noodle arms go, you should probably look at the numbers. Kendall has thrown out more runners and at a better clip. You can disagree all you want but the facts tell the true stroy.
Who knows with Sheets. He will probably miss a start or two but it doesnt seem too serious. Obviously with Sheets everybody is a little jumpy and even little things seem to be big things. We will just have to wait and see.

Pregame guys said the injury doesnt seem to be anything to worry about but then again right before they said that they were not sure if was going to miss his next start, so they dont know what the hell they are talking about. Man, this really blows, Ben is pitching lights out right now too and then he gets hurt again, surprise, surprise. We can live w/ 1 or 2 starts but if its that damn 2 months crap we are in trouble.

I hope he doesn't miss a start, because I want the Cubs to have a better record than them with a healthy Ben Sheets, it's a more difficult loss to swallow.
Alfonso Soriano is doing what he normally does, he gets banged up, he starts out slow, but he notoriously tears up the ball in the later part of the year. I'll take that because we will need our hitters in the playoffs.
Geovany Soto handles pitchers extremely well as a young guy. Also, I haven't looked out the numbers for throwing out runners this season, but last year Soto was significantly better than Jason Kendall.
I've always said that Felix Pie doesn't have the right mindset to play small ball, which he would be an all star at doing. He needs to go down to the minors and leadoff (instead of batting in the 4 spot in the minors like he used to for some reason) so he learns how to get on base and use his speed. The Cubs minor league system isn't very intelligent. There is no reason to bat Pie 4th in the minors.
Good luck Brewers. May the best team win.

In what, 15 games? Does that really count?
This year, Kendall is at .375, Soto .308

This year, Kendall is at .375, Soto .308
But Soto has 2 more HRs and 5 more RBIs
Oh and BTW in the last 7 days, Kendell is hitting .111 with a .111 Slugging.

I'm sorry, is that somehow relevant to their caught stealing percentages?

I heard they're shutting Sheets down for the rest of the year. It's a precautionary measure to prevent the five other injuries he'll have this year.

Isn't this season only 16 games old?
I expect that, at worst, Jason Kendall will be even with Geovany Soto by seasons end in that department. With the stick that Soto brings, though, I'd take him every time (and so would you if you had the chance, and you know it).
I don't think Kendall is useless, but Soto is a potential all star NOW, as well as the next 7 years.

Very droll...
Actually, new Reds owner (Bill Hall) is planning to trade for him. Johnny Cueto, Aaron Harang & Brandon Phillips will be wearing Brewers uniforms tomorrow.

Yeah, you have to get Cueto early in the season because Dusty "Tommy John" Baker is trying to make sure he gets the Kerry Wood and Mark Prior treatment.

With the stick that Soto brings, though, I'd take him every time (and so would you if you had the chance, and you know it).Do I think Soto is better? Absolutely. But given the chance, I wouldn't trade. With our inexperienced starting pitchers, I want an experienced catcher behind the dish.
