Isiah did not ruin this team on his own.

rastaman, you can't be serious....just because Isiah was a great player, some people want to continue to believe that he's a great executive as well. Not only did he do a terrible job with free agents, but also with trades and to a lesser extent, the draft.

Do you realize that Q was damaged goods when he came to the Knicks? I recall there being some sort of language in his contract regarding his back injury and the need for further testing (I can't recall exactly....it WAS three years ago) but, the point is Isiah removed that clause from his contract and signed him anyway. So it wasn't like he came to NY and oh boy, there goes Q's back, now we're effed. We were effed the day we signed him. Why did Phoenix trade him? To land Kurt, but mainly to clear cap space, which brings me to another thing you mentioned.

J Rose so-so? Jalen Rose was a horror show while playing all of 26 games in a Knick uniform. To illustrate what a pathetic job Isiah has done managing the salary cap, take a guess what the Knicks paid Rose for his services. A total of 45 million in salary and lux-tax.

What trades has Isiah done that were actually good? Ones where he wasn't using massive expiring contracts (Francis, using Hardaway's, for example) to acquire players with larger contracts or doing a deal where he wasn't giving away multiple draft picks in exchange for overrated players (Curry). Isiah basically locked the Knicks into cap hell into 2011.

I don't think Balkman can be considered a good draft pick when Williams was sitting there for the taking. Of the group you mentioned, only Lee would start on some teams. Nate is not a PG and is too small for the 2. Chandler might be a player. It's too early to know about anyone else.

We don't have anyone to build a team around but we have some nice young role players. I think we should trade back to get more, suck again next year and grab someone to be the center of our offense next year, although I doubt I could pass on rose or beasley if they were at our pick.

Knicks73, I cannot agree more.  Somehow people still think that Isiah has a good basketball eye.  Then how come he has destroyed this team.  He did ruin the team on his own.  Here's why:  Every player currently on the team was one that he drafted, acquired via trade, or signed from free agency.  Every trade has worked against us and when we acquired the players we wanted, we would also receive another bad contract of some washed up player in return, like when we got Penny with Cancerbury.  The Suns just used that clearing of money to sign Steve Nash that summer.  Like you said, QRich was banged up constantly way before he got here.  And Francis' trade could be worse than the Starbury one.  We traded a nice young draft pick in Ariza and Penny's expiring contract for another bad contract that had a couple of years still remaining.  Plus, we already had another selfish point guard (Babybury) on the team already.  And you are absolutely right about Balkman.  Yes, he is a defensive player which we need, but like I have been saying since he was drafted, how do you pass up on the steal of the draft in an area that we needed in Marcus Williams when he was literally in our hands?  How??  Zeke was clueless as to what he was doing.  He did not draft based on needs, but on what players he likes.  Balkman would have been available by the next draft pick we had, which was the last of the 1st round, and we could have had them both. Every player on this team is one dimensional; they either can only play D (Balkman) or don't play D at all and are me-first (everyone else).  Ariza, Lee, and Chandler were the only smart draft picks.  Nate was a good one, but he cannot start or play as a PG and he is too small to play SG.  He is a great energy spark off the bench but you cannot judge him based on the half a season he played heavy minutes.  Still, he is better suited as a 6th man as a spark plug.  But, Isiah is entirely responsible for how far we have fallen b/c he assembled every piece of this pathetic group of crybaby drama queen scrubs.  At least he is fired as GM and coach and we do not have to watch them play anymore.
