Here's an interesting tidbit for those wondering it would be good for the Kings if Ron Artest stays with the team.  As all Kings fans know it seemed as though just when Artest got back in the lineup (from injury or suspension), then Kevin Martin would go down.  They just could not stay healthy at the same time.

So here is a breakdown of the Kings' record

With Artest AND Martin: 24-20
With Artest only:                 4-6
With Martin only:                7-10
Without both:                     3-8

I think it would be good for the team if Artest stays, although I have no problem with Fransisco Garcia starting should Ron go away.  No matter what happens, the Kings need a PF who can block shots and get defensive rebounds, and a solid PG who can at least be compintent defensively.  UCLA's Kevin Love or Russell Westbrook would be
good fits if they leave school, but I don't know who's out there in free agency.

Well in the Sacramento Bee, they said the Kings were considering trading John Salmons or Ron Artest because the take over the ball so often disrupt flow. So, trade one of those guys for a pick or one of the holes we need to fill, or trade Miller possibly to fill in a need.

Elton Brand is expected to opt out of his contract and become a FA. This is who we need to go after real hard. I know I probably sound like a broken record about this, but he is a franchise player and would make a huge impact. The Kings would make the playoffs for sure with him in the lineup.

cutlerfan, this is a good insight. Elton Brand is a low maintainence player who understands team play. Underrated rebounder and shotblocker. Can get his own shot, but happier operating out of an offense. And he can really run the floor for a center/power forward. Artest just has too much baggage and plays too much for his own stats, altough he does offset that when he wants to play defense. But I think his style of play has made him old for his age. I'm a big fan of Garcia and Theus, but I question whether Garcia's physique will hold up to 30-35 minutes a night for 82 games even at small forward. But I felt the same way about Tayshuan Prince. Draft a PG(Maybe trade Artest for an early first round pick if anyone will bite), sign a free agent big man like Brand (he's bound to want out of The Clippers), get a lock down defender like Bowen who can guard multiple positions, and keep Miller down to 20-25 minutes a night so he can avoid so many injuries. Still years away from playoffs, but the Suns, Mavs, and Spurs are all old teams who are going to drop a level by 2010. Be patient with Theus, draft solid prospects, clear up cap room and make your move then.
