Why didn't Tiger schedule the surgery during the winter break, before the Masters? Just wondering...

I am sure this decision was well thought out. We are not talking ACL here, it is repair to the cartlidge, a much more minor rehab. It will take time, but 6-8 weeks is plenty of time to get him back. With that said he has played his best golf the last 10 months, he must have reinjured himself but wanted to take a shot at the Masters.

Smacks more of a lame excuse to me for his so-so showing this past Sunday.  How many times do we see sore-loser star athletes play the sympathy card with a out-of-the-hat injury after they have been defeated?  It happens time and time again, and this is no exception.  Tiger is one of the worst losers I have watched play the game of golf.  He needs to study Bobby Jones and the etiquette of the gentlemen's game known as golf.  He has no clue about how to treat other people, especially his opponents, with dignity, courtesy and respect.  And as far as I am concerned, this, not the score card or the won/loss record, is the true measure of a man.  Tiger---you have an awful lot to learn.  Hopefully, these six weeks will serve as a meaningful pause that will refresh not merely your body, but your character flaws!  Too harsh?  I don't think so!  That's the way it really is!

As a casual golf fan, who doesn't even play, I can tell you I would probably pay no attention to golf if it weren't for Tiger Woods.  His talent is so amazing, I find myself watching him play even though I don't really like golf.  He is not a true gentleman of the sport, I'll grant you that, but your criticism is way too harsh.  The man is injured, and he's taking time to get it fixed, rehab and heal.  I've injured my knee this year, and I can empathise with the pain it causes.  One of the reasons he's so good is because he hates to lose, so I'm glad he's a sore loser.

Tiger is one of the worst losers I have watched play the game of golf.  He needs to study Bobby Jones and the etiquette of the gentlemen's game known as golf. What is golf?.... It's a game.  And why do you play games?... TO WIN!  As HUGE as he is worldwide,  I would say his ego is quite low as far as athletes go.  I have NEVER heard anyone on the PGA tour say that he doesn't respect the game or his opponents.  Everyother golfer on tour, if they had the success that Tiger did, would most likely be huge jerks.

In the immortal words of Herm Edwards, "You play to win the games!"... "You play to win the games!"

Stop being a hater and enjoy the greatest golfer that we will ever see in our lifetime.

Of course we have all seen spoiled athletes come up with lame excuses for poor performances. This however is not even close to being one of those cases. It should've been obvious for even the most casual of golf fan that Tiger has been battling this for quite awhile and now he's finally decided to take care of it. You apparently haven't been paying attention to notice it.

Deciding to go under the knife and then endure 6 weeks of rehab to correct a persistent problem is a far cry from whining that your wrist hurts and withdrawing from tournament after tournament when your score starts to go down the drain.

The onlyt reason why everyone see's Tiger "act up" is because teh media is all over the guy and they hang on every word and sneeze this guy does, so of course they are going to catch him being very unhappy when he loses!

Clergyjack you might be one of the biggest idiots on this planet....  You honestly think Tiger would get surgery to make an excuse for coming in 2nd??  Did you eat lead paint as a child??  When he didn't make the cut, he made no excuses but for a 2nd place finish, he gets surgery to make an excuse....  Change your name to CluelessJack...

As for the other BS you were writng about, its just as silly as your first comment.  Since their were not cameras following Bobby Jones every move like Tiger, you have no idea how he took loses.  People like you don't even know how these guys from the beginning of golf were like other than a couple of clips of them smiling after wins.

Tiger doesn't need to learn a thing. He is a competitor like all of the great ones.  I guess when you lose, you just skip around smiling.... But that's how losers act.  I true winner hates the taste of a lose and use that to push himself to be successful the next time....  So what he curses if he messes up a shot, most of the guys do.  Its just that most of them don't have mikes following them around.

Clergyjack is a complete fool.  He must be one of those guys that lose at everything they do all the time then smile about it.  Since he is so used to losing, it's a way of life for him.  Well, not everyone minds losing like you do.  If you don't get upset about losing, then there is something seriously wrong with you.  If you don't want to win and don't expect to win everytime you tee it up, or lace up your shoes, then why even play the game?  When have you ever seen Tiger turn down an interview after a bad round?  When have you ever seen him snap at a reporter or a fan after a bad round?  If he had, with the way the cameras that are all up in his grill all the time, we definitely would have known about it.  With the way we all know he wants to win, he handles defeat graciously.

I don't agre with you. After he lost, Woods complimented Immelman. Woods said that Immelman had a complete overall game and that with his skill level it was a matter of time before he won a major. Woods also commented on the fact that Immelman had been held back by his injury problems and that that was unfortunate. How many times have you ever heard a golfer who just came in second in a major say things like that. How many times have you heard a major player comment about the injuries of a virtual unknown and comment on how the injurie
