I'm sorry my rookie friends but Dave Nonis Could Have made a lot of stupid moves that would have killed are depth. Todays NHL is all about timing the timing of the Ducks 3 Rookies or sophomores that got Rookie Contracts that played like weathered Veterans. Buffalo 2 years ago same idea Vanek worked for peanuts as well as Briere, Drury, Pomminville was a rookie stafford and the list goes on. Even the Sharks this year or the Penguins When the team can draft NHL ready players and have them play all at the same time for limited to no money. You can bring in Scott Niedermayer. Chris Pronger (which fell into his lap the same way Loungo Fell into Nonis), Marrain Hossa (yet to be proved) Brian Campbell. and so on and so forth.
Any way what I'm getting at is that Brian Burke is a great sales man. The reason he got fired was he did not want to do what the ownership wanted him to do. (witch is respect) Burke did a pretty brutal job drafting for the Canucks. as well as Refusing to get us a real goalie. He believed in Dan Cloutier to much. The Same Burke signed Todd Bertuzzi to a 2 year 8 million dollar contract. For what being over rated Power Forward that Plays like Brian Gionta, in a NBA game.
Brian Burke will never be in the Vancouver Market again. That and Dave Nonis was apprenticed by burke, nonis is burke's godfather to his child. If you listened to Nonis talk you would see and here the burke in Nonis.
Dave Nonis will Take over another Team and be given the time he needs (5 years) to establish a solid contender for years not just one year. you can but all your eggs in one basket and hope for the best. or you can have a solid plan that last for years.
Bottom Line If Loungo Leaves it's cause his Wife and kid want to stay in Fla. Another pro who forgets what he does for a living. When Mike Gillis Takes over he will have a whole bunch of prospects and draft picks to work with. But don't worry The owners are the real GM in Vancouver and Gillis is his puppet. If Vancouver does something good in the near future Nonis will get all the credit. just like Murray did in Anaheim.
