Obviously in response to the biggest let down thread. What part of the year did you think was the most positive

Well Jefferson showed he was worth the trade.  So i had to vote for him, other wise i thought TElfair showing he is worth sticking around here.

The Wolves have alot of good young role players but they are missing that other star.  I think the thing that all the other guys showed this year besides Big Al of course, is that we dont have another true star.  We gave McCants, Gomes, and Foye every chance to show it this season and none did.  Im not saying they arent good players but we need another guy who can be a star for those 3 to shine.

So in this draft if we dont get a super star type guy i think we will be right back here next year.  We got alot of good role guys just missing that second star.

I want to start out by saying I believe this thread is a lot more relevant than the biggest disappointment. Although I think there is one clear answer.

I voted for Big Al. We knew we were getting a solid player in the Garnett trade but I did not think we would get someone that would immediately replace KG's points and rebounds. Jefferson averaged 21points and 11 rebs this season and dominated at times. I would have been happy with 18pts and 9 rebs.

However there many other positives on the year. We found out that Gomes is a solid player, probably shouldn't be the #1 or #2 scorer (maybe not even #3) but nonetheless solid.

Telfair was also a surprise. Again he played real solid. I hope there is still upside there but at least we know he is a very good backup point guard and decent starter.

Green was a MAJOR disappointment. I am glad we at least got something in return with the 2nd round pick and a look at Snyder. From the few games Snyder has played with us he has showed he is solid and can be a good role player.

I was a little disappointed in Craig Smith. I suppose he hasn't gotten the most minutes but if he played better maybe he would have. Either way he showed that he can be a good role player.

All the cap room is HUGE. Finally we are getting out of the hole that McHale has gotten us into. The contract that Big Al signed was very good for the team.

Obviously our high draft pick this year will help us a lot. We may not get Beasley or Rose but we should still get someone that will help us in the next 6-8 years.

I may not have made my argument for Big Al clear enough. We got a FRANCHISE player in the KG trade. Big Al is our centerpiece for the future, something that we didn't know for sure when the deal was made.

On a semi-side note. I loved the KG trade at the time and love it even more now. We got our franchise player in Big Al, Gomes and Telfair can be starters/6th man role players, Ratliff gave us nice cap relief, and Green gave us a 2nd rounder and possibly a good role player in Snyder..On top of that the 1st round pick back that McHale sent in the previous Boston trade.

I couldn't agree with you more hardball. Big Al is a stud and hes still young. He's putting up better numbers than KG was putting up at this time in his career, and hopefully he'll develop into the leader that KG was. I don't really know if Telfair and Gomes are starters in the league, but I think they can fill in for a short time in the case of injuries or something. Outside of Beasley and Rose, I havn't been 100% convinced that anyone in the draft can cause an immediate impact on our team. I'm pushing for Derek Rose in this draft. He outplayed a handful of quality point guards including my then-favorite DJ Augustine. Combine him with Foye and McCants and that is a solid trio of backcourt players. Look for the Wolves to make big time noise in the next few years.

The season was something to forget by all standards, but the season showed us fans some great positives as well. So this thread to a start was a great posting! As most people voted for Big Al, I have to say it was a toss up between the cap room and the Other.

The cap room doesn't really have anything to do with the season in general, but it will sure be an asset to have for years to come. Thanks to Big Al signing a contract that allowed us to have such a large cap to play with. Let's just hope McHale can do something positive with it!

As for the Other, I have to say it has been Randy Foye in due fact that he has come out and proven he is and should be the starting point guard on this team or be a possible shooting guard for sure. Although McCants is a pure shooter Foye has shown he can be a scorer down the stretch. Im not a big fan of Telfair so maybe we could pick up Rose or someone worthy of running this team.

Lets Just hope we can draft someone that can be a core player/Stud right out of the gates. I sure hope McHale doesn't draft someone that will make this season a total bust and waste!

I agree about Foye.

He has showed he can play. He is a starter at either guard position.

Pray for a top 2 pick!!

Grabbing a top stud player and then signing a defensive specialist would give them more balance.
