I got killed for suggesting that Robinson Cano  should be the prime bait to nab Johan Santana from the Twins. There were so many Yankee fans treating Cano as a Hall of Fame player. How about now?

Two offers I had suggested:

1. Cano, Melkey and Ian Kennedy for Johan Santana and Pat Neshek.

Neshek could set up Rivera, allowing Joba to be a starter. Lord knows that the Yankees haven't been able to fix Phil Hughes' fastball thus far. Is there any coach in the Yankee system who has his job based on merit or his ability to fix mechanics, and isn't just a former Yankee?
2. Cano, Jeff Marquez RHP-AA, Mitch Hillegoss 3B-A for Johan Santana

We keep all three young pitchers and this Alberto Gonzalez kid could have played second and bat ninth. Gold Glove Diamondbacks 2B (and three hitter... for them), Orlando Hudson is a free agent after this year. It's easier to get a stud free agent position player than a stud free agent starter.

I KNOW THIS IS OVER, BUT IT KILLS ME THAT NO ONE WOULD GIVE IT ANY BETTER. CANO IS A NICE PLAYER... THAT'S IT.  HE IS SO OVERRATED BY THE YANKEE FAITHFUL, THAT IT ISN'T FUNNY.

I mean to say 'that no one would give it any CONSIDERATION'.

Worst part of this, is that Cano is killing my Fantasy team!  Fargin' bastage.

Cano is a young player and his numbers at the end of the season will be just fine. We are 12 games into the season and you are already going crazy. I also have Cano in fantasy baseball and I start him every week. He is also killing my team, but in the long run I trust him. He does make some random mistakes and he needs to bust his rear on the field and stop the crap.

Dude, its the first 10 games of the season, you need to chill. The baseball season is a marathon not a sprint. Cano will heat up as the weather does. The Yankees are traditionally slow starters.

Ps.
Santana is 1-2, he isn't doing that great either.

great dude, 13 games and here we go, should have traded cano....hes one of the top 2nd baseman in the game and you wanted to give him, melky and kennedy up!
thats absurd, the fact is cano is an excellent hitter who was burning hot in spring training and has hit a cold stretch...trust me, cano will win a batting title one day and he will end being a great yankee for years to come...you dont trade away cano's, hughes' or kennedy's because they have a few bad games...they all have shown excellent talent and have high ceilings. melky is a very solid player too. santana is a great pitcher but hes not amazing...will some other yankee fans actually get out of the win now theory and try and give away, 1 year for many great years to come. please dude...cano is just solid

Johan Santana has been THE BEST (not "one of") over the last five years. THAT IS A FACT! And his win-loss record is totally not indicative of how he's pitched. Matt Cain had a no hitter going in San Francisco this weekend, and the Giants bullpen eventually handed him a no decision. ERA and WHIP is what matters most. K's are nice too, because they are indicative a starter who can get himself out of a jam.

Johan's got all of that. And even conceding some homerun problems the past two years, he's still a top five pitcher by seasons end (if not THE best). Chase Utley is so much better than Cano. And it's arguable that Cano is even the best second baseman in the AL East. Brian Roberts might get that. And if you factor defense in for 50% of the grade, then Dustin Pedroia is right there with Cano.

Cano is a .306 hitter last year with less than 20 homeruns. His high run and rbi totals are more indicative of the lineup around him than anything else. I think he's a nice player. I think Cano is a good second baseman who has value.

But he's NOT worth more to a team than a left handed Franchise Starter. Cano's not going to get us out of the five game ALDS. Johan would have.

Fortunately the Mets still stink, so Johan at least won't be killing us in Boston. Johan, Wang, Pettitte, Joba.... would have been great.

PS - Melkey is a fourth outfielder who dives for routine fly balls to make it look tough. Ian Kennedy is a finesse pitcher who couldn't break a pane of glass. He's also got Scott Boras for an agent.

Cano has been solid since he joined the team. It is way to early to give up on him. If the Yankees give up on everyone who is off to a slow start they will lose half the team this year.

are you a Yankee fan?? First of the Yankees havent gotten off to fast start in April in years. Secondly Robinson Cano had a horrific first two months last yr and than no one could get him out for 3 months.. He was batting under .200 for 2 months and than was batting close to 450 for 3 months!! He will come around when the weather warms up just like the rest of the Yankees will.. Dont panic yet my fellow Yankee fan i use to be like you and be pissed off after every loss and happy after every win.. Its just not worth it ITS A MARATHON NOT A SPRINT. i rather hes hitting in october than april. The Yankees will win their share and will be there in October for a 13 straight season!! Cano will be productive once the entire team gets healthy. Hes the best offensive second baseman in the league.

Lets go by more than 2 weeks (13 games)  before we start bashing Cano saying he should have been traded for Santana. Santana is one of the best pitchers in the game but he hasnt looked good and the he got rocked at home by the Brewers so i am sure he would also be  1-2 with the yankees at this pt. Hes only had one good start vs the Braves and he got out pitched by Smoltz.. i dont count the game vs the Marlins thats like facing a high school line up with no power hitter.

LETS GO YANKS TIME TO TURN IT AROUND!!! THE DRIVE FOR 27 IN 08!!!
