Hey I gave a more detailed post on the other thread. I think the Raiders overpaid and I'm glad we didn't match. You're right, tackles get racked up for safeties because there are completions in front of him.
He does play in the box more than you would think, but not all the time. Him and Butler really took turns closer to the line....although he had the tag "FS" last season he played as if he was strong just as much. He makes a good chunk of tackles in run support. A lot of them are after 5-8 yard gains. You're right, the RB had to get past the first level, but Gibril does get to the line in a hurry and he doesn't miss many tackles.
Like I said, the Raiders overpaid on him just like they did on pretty much everyone else this offseason, but in my opinion he is an above average player who will be better at SS than FS.
