As long the Mets win, I did suggest earlier that Pagan is the better player...but who knows...all I care about is the Mets winning and if both players when out there produce and give us a chance to win...

Just an FYI, not that anyone would care, but I will be traveling on business this week, so may not be able to be around as much.....I will try to check in as much as much as possible...

Go Mets!!!

although i really love what pagan is doing so far, the Mets need more thump in there lineup, we have the least amount of homeruns in the majors(4).  thats the reason why alou needs to be in the lineup just the threat of him hitting it out will help church and everyone behind him

Pagan is a role player when Alou gets back.  Willie plays vets plus Mgmt will not let a 8 million dollar player be a pinch hitter

I don't think Alou will be much of a threat to blast it out of the park, but he will be solid in the bottom part of the order.  If Willie keeps the lineup the way he has it Alou should bat after Castillo so he will give Luis some good pitches to hit.

alou                                                   beltran                                           church

alou                                                     beltran                                           pagan

Why not?  last year he hit 13 dingers in 81 games.  I know this isn't going to win him Home run derby status, but thats solid power production.

I like Alou after Delgado just to break up the Delgado, church Schneider lefty combo.

I also really don;t like Church batting 2nd.  He is a power hitter and should be in the 5 or 6 hole.  While he did well there against the Nats, I just don't see it being a quality long term move.

I think in games Pagan plays you put him number 2, as he is a good avg hitting and will sets the table well.  And you have 5 Alou, 6 Delgado, 7 Castillo, and 8 Schneider.

Games church plays, I think you have no choice but to move Castillo back up to the 2 spot (where I am convinced his bat will come around once his knees start to adapt to post surgery, he is afterall a career 300 hitter).  you have Delgado 5, Alou 6, Church 7, and Schneider 8.  (with the potential of moving Delgado to the 7 spot if he bat continues to go south moving Church up to 5).

NYFAN - What makes you think he's going to play in more than 81 games?  I like Alou, but he's consistently on the DL.  While I do hope that he improves our team, I accept that he will be out for the better part of the season.

Pagan has played very well this year and desives to get the starting job when Alou gets back. Alou cant run very fast and he'll need a day or two off a week. Pagan could play every day unlike alou can and he has a little more depth.

I don't ever remember saying he would play more than 81 games.  Actually I went back and read and know I didn't say it :-)

My point was that someone had said that Alou doesn't have much of a threat to blast it out of the park.  I was contradicting that and saying he actually has solid pop.  And 13 home runs in 81 games translates to 25-30 in 162 games.  And you have that in the bottom half of your line up, you're doing something right.

Thats all I was saying.
