2009 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE SET: The Longhorns have filled their 2009 and 2010 schedules with the addition of a three-game series with Wyoming beginning in 2009 and home contests against the University of Louisiana at Monroe on Sept. 5, 2009 and Florida Atlantic on Sept. 25, 2010.
Texas will travel to Wyoming on Sept. 12, 2009, and the Cowboys will play in Austin on Sept. 11, 2010 and Sept. 1, 2012.
Texas and Wyoming have met twice before, both times in Austin. The Longhorns defeated the Cowboys, 34-7, in 1974 and, 17-3, in 1978. UT and ULM have never played, and the Horns will face Florida Atlantic for the first time in the 2008 season opener.

WOW. we are pussies

Not really.  All major college football teams have gone to weaker schedules.  When I say major, I mean teams who are consistently in the top 20.  Recently, there have been a couple of articles over the airwaves on the schedule strength of major college football teams.  They have come way down.  There are more Division IA teams playing IIA teams than ever before.  Why?  It's all about money.    Wins and losses seem to be the overwhelming factor when being considered for getting into BCS bowl games.  Look at last year.  Hawaii?  They had no business being in a BCS game.  They played basically no one, but they had a great record.  What happen?  They got blown out.  It will probably be BYU this year.  So division IA teams have started to set there schedules up to give them the best chance at winning the most games.  This doesn't happen in every case, but it is starting to happen more and more.  Moving forward, the only time you will see a team with a good OOC schedule is when it means a lot of money for the school to compensate for the potential loss of a BCS bowl game.

Wasn't it nice those two years Texas played Ohio State and the winner ends up in the National Championship game? I would like to see them schedule one bad-ass non-conference game every year. Bring on USC.

I say bring on UCLA.  I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that 66-3 whipping in Austin about 12 years or so ago...and they talked trash about the whole state too....

I wish we could play an SEC school too. That would be nice.

You mean play an SEC teams in 09, 10 & beyond? Well...UT has Ark this year & next. UT could venture back into the Little 11 (Big 10) after 09 or keep playing SEC

Bring on USC & UCLA??? Old news. Frankly as a UT fan I'm getting tired of putting the Pac10 in their place.

only one (1) conference did not add a "cream-puff" 12th game to their schedules...the PAC-10 added another conference game----making it the only conference to play a true round robin schedule.... no wonder the SEC-Big-10-Big-12-ACC can qualify so many bowl teams.... the top teams of one division can play the weak sisters in the other division plus their 4 cream-puffs.   The SEC loves the Sun Belt and the Big 10 had 17 games against the MAC year before last.... What a joke.....
