I too have been impressed by the gracious NC fans. There are always blowhards, and they do more to look stupid than anyone could ever accuse them of, and there is a group that follows every team. I will say, this now, for me exorcises the spectre of how Roy left us after pledging never to. I did flush the ashes of the letter he wrote me years ago that I saved from the day of his departure. Some may think that was classless of me, but ponder the idea of Dean Smith or even Roy leaving UNC for Duke and it will give you a taste of the bitterness we've tasted. Now that is over, even steven, done and done.
I will quote one of the things he told me about coaching young people that now resides in my septic tank. "you have to make your 'want to' bigger than their 'want to'", And I guess what the Hawks did.....it began in the realm of unbelievable, then back to earth, to good god, where's my Valium? to Ahhhhhhhh. UNC is one tough team and I am betting anyone that bet Kansas by 18 is sitting pretty right now. Thanks again to everyone from UNC to a Missouri Fan I saw who actually congratulated KU. It was a night of incredibility to be sure.
