UCLA just ran into a superior, and ultimately championship team. I don't think 3 final 4 in a row without winning is a failure like many have said. Howland did a superb job. UCLA might will be in the final 4 again if Love stays because they have the 2nd best recruiting class next year.
i agree, ucla simply could not matchup defensively to memphis nor could darren collison score when guarded by derrick rose. it was the same deal with texas and dj augustine.
according to scouts.com they have the best but i think jrue holliday is overrated so you are probably right.
no offense, but i think all of ucla's final fours in the past three years have occurred due to an easy road to get there. ben howland is a good coach but if it weren't for such easy schedule's each year they may not have made it. for instance if louisville were switched with xavier or duke in the west ucla probably would have lost in the elite 8. i realize how difficult it is to have a team go to the final four 3 consecutive years when each year there are new lineups basically. but it was made a lot easier with the easy road trip.
