This kid is doing everything possible to overcome the NBA hype machine and force the voters to recognize his game and team accomplishments.  I find  terrible how the NBA finds the need to market one or two players for this award.  I believe it has something to do with the upcoming Olympics.  I'll say it again.  I've never seen the NBA market/campaign for 2 players like it is a presidential election.  Minute polls and google and other sports meduims, Announcers on national telecasts ignoring the other candidates.

I just hope the voters do the right thing and give it to this kid.  This could really boost him into superstar status and maybe even pump some more revenue in the big Easy.  I hope he give another dominant performance during the national tv game on Sunday.

I can do nothing but agree with you. It seems everyone wants to push for Kobe and LeBron but CP3 truly is the MVP. I don't think the Hornets would be anywhere near where they are today without him. Some of the talk has calmed on Kobe and LeBron and he's taken advantage of that by putting up some big numbers as of late. Most importantly his team is winning. If the Hornets can lock up the top spot in the West, hands down Chris Paul should take home the hardware.

I am glad it wasn't just me thinking like this.  I have watched ole Steve Nash win a couple while I have been in Phoenix, and hands down CP3 is better than Nash, and the Media is all over Kode, Lebron, and KG?  It's all about markets, not about the premise of the award.  MVP nowadays stands for marketable valuable player.

Yeah,

It's all about who's the most marketable.  I see the Hornets taking the top spot and the media stil finding a reason to give it to Kobe.  Every reason you give for Kobe is even better Chris Paul.  But you'll hear, "It's a shame that he hasn't won one yet."   You'll also hear, "Chris Paul is too young/inexperienced."  Or even for Lebron, "He'll win 4 or 5 by the time he stops playing.

Nash won it back to back, but CP3 has put up excellent numbers that mirror Nash's years.  Plus he's going to lead a team that didn't even make the playoffs last year, to now possibly having the top record in the tightest conference race in NBA history.  You mean to tell me he can lead a team to the top spot and not deserve the award?

Kobe's team losing to those two crap squads last week to put them behind for #1 seed last week  should take his name out of the running.  And when the Cavs and Hornets met......Hornet sweep two.  San Antonio losing tonight was huge.....The Lakers were Ok til Gasol showed up......then they played out of their gourd.  Lebron, I realize it is a lot harder to change a roster in the NBA than in other sports, but this boy needs some help.  Unfortunately, it ain't coming this year.  No finals for the Cavs......

Do I think the Hornets have a spot in the finals locked up???  No (but I am praying hard).  They do however, have the best showing this year for a team that wasn't predicted to finish better  than third, IN THEIR OWN DIVISION !!!!!!!!

CP3 all they way.................

I think Paul deserves the MVP..if not, he should get MAJOR consideration. But, in the long run, it really isn't a big deal. I think CP3 would rather have a ring than be the MVP anyway. I'm just excited to see him run the show in the playoffs, and dish out 15 assists each game. I think the Spurs are still the team to beat in the West, but the Hornets have a legit shot

mikev7297 thank you for bringing sanity to this wayward discussion ...you're right It isn't a big deal. It's a freaking award! Focus on the playoffs and your seeding, fans - you just clinched! Screw awards.

And please - you can't watch  5 min. of an NBA game any more without someone mentioning Chris Paul. It's not like he's some undrafted free agent. Everyone knows Chris Paul by now. You can't complain about James and Bryant - they're long established all-stars.

As much as I'd love to see Chris Paul win the MVP award, it may work to the Hornets advantage if he doesn't.  Chris Paul is a hungry man right now, and it's not the individual hardware that he's got his eye on.  He wants an NBA title.  Not only would that give a huge lift to New Orleans, a city that has not won a major championship (but has hosted many), it would also be a knife in the heart of Charlotte, the city that let the Hornets get away.

I'm from Charlotte, by the way, so I'd love nothing more than to see the Hornets hoisting the O'Brien Trophy as NBA champions.

I say let Kobe or LeBron have the MVP award. That's what the league wants, they seem like they enjoy the limelight.  Besides, it only takes Chris Paul 10-19 from the field and 12-13 to get 33 points, WHILE getting 15 assists.  For Kobe it usually takes about 7-22 from the field and 10-11 at the line to get 30, since a) he won't pass b)takes all the shots.  So Kobe plays for Kobe... Chris Paul makes everyone around him better. Give the MVP to Kobe.
