I agree with you and realbigjon here.
Jamar wasn't a big name, superstar, primetime, sportscenter hogging, flashy player.
What he was....is....is someone who got the job done. He did what the coaches asked of him for 4 years. Please don't get his stats crossed in your mind. Jamar can score if he chooses to.
He averaged over 30 ppg in high school over a 4 year period. If your memory is good, you will remember that he finished 2nd in Mr. Basketball voting his sophmore and junior year of high school (the winner was some kid named LeBron both years), and he won Mr. Basketball as a senior. He averaged over 8 assists and 6 rebounds also during his high school career.
The accolades were there, BUT there were flashier players that always had the spotlight. His Ohio State career was solid. The coaches wanted him to be the one to get everyone else involved, which led to him getting his look when the rest of the team was on. Scoonie Penn better than Jamar? Puhlease.... let me guess, you graduated in 1999 and havent seen a game since?
He was double and triple teamed all year this season in conference games, and still shot over 40% and hit for 15 ppg.
Just this past weekend he was named the Portsmouth Invitational MVP. Yeah, MVP of a very respected NBA Pre-Draft Camp, and will be now playing in the Orlando Pre-Draft Camp in June.
