All this, and in regards to a 15 year old expansion team that has won 2 World Series title in the last 10 seasons.
I blame Wayne Huyzinga (spelling?).... He won his first WS with an older, somewhat highly paid, free agent laden team. He allowed for the dismantling of that team, and brought down the team payroll with younger players raised on the farm. Won the 2nd WS with a lot of those younger players, and dismantled again, bringing the payroll down further....
They don't want to spend the money on FA's and said FA's don't want to play in an empty lake. Miami is not a good town for the sport of Baseball. It is too wet, the stadium is too big. It's a football stadium converted for baseball. Also, it doesn't help when the average age of your potential fan base is 68 years.
