Bob McKillop was on sports radio in Raleigh yesterday. He talked for maybe 15 minutes. He was asked if he would commit to coming back to Davidson next year or whether there were any positions he would be interested. In a very coy answer he said that the Governor's position in New York was open along with some Vice-Presidential positions. He never directly answered the question which worries me. He must have many opportunities (Rice has said they were interested, but Rice was 3-27 this year. I am hopeful he is just making a play for a pay raise. With Steph Curry coming back and his son a sophomore, it seems highly unlikely he will leave, but he is such a big part of Davidson's success, any talk of movement worries me.

He was reportedly in Raleigh recruiting. They have a big three star prospect that is being recruited by several ACC schools along with Davvidson and several top academic schools. His name is Ryan Kelley and he is a Junior a Ravenscroft. He is a big guy with a permiter shot. He certainly could run Davidson's break as the trailer. I have my fingers crossed.

That does sound a little worrisome.  I remember 1969: the alums bought Driesell a new car & he left for Maryland!  I think the situations are rather different.  Davidson had a new president & I'm not sure Spencer was as supportive of basketball as Martin had been.  Also, Driesell was younger in his career & had pretty much accomplished all he could at Davidson.  In fact, he left us in excellent shape -- Maloy, Cook & Kroll were rising seniors & Bryan Adrian was an awesome talent about to join the varsity team.  It is a sad testimony that Davidson allowed all that Driesell had built up to deteriorate so quickly.  By the time I was a freshman at Davidson, we went 7-19 (1974-'75).  My only hope is that we learned from this experience.  Were McKillop to leave, I would like to think that the College would put the resources into basketball so that we wouldn't flail about in the doldrums for decades before another revival.  I also don't think McKillop has accomplished all he can at Davidson  -- now that he has us back on the map, his recruiting job should be easier.  I would think he would like his current position with respect to recruiting.  Plus, as you said, with Curry returning & his son on the team, that should reduce the odds that he'd leave.  Even though RIce is an excellent school, I can't imagine that McKillop would go for that position -- but there have got to be some that would be tempting.

Hopefully, we'll be announcing Mckillop's new contract here shortly.  It would be heartbreaking to lose him.

With Trent Johnson leaving Stanford, I'd have to think that McKillop would get some serious consideration.  Recruiting & developing literate players who graduate from their institution would seem to fit the Stanford mission perfectly.  I hope Davidson keeps McKillop but this is the one vacancy I've seen where I've actually have some concern.
