Nate Rakestraw has quit the Arkansas Razorback basketball team.  I wish him the best in his future endeavors.  Bottom line is Rakestraw does not have big time Division I basketball talent.  This will free up another scholarship for the Hogs during the late signing period.   See the attached article regarding his departure from the program:

This is awesome, I heard rumors that Pastasia is suppose to make his announcement of leaving the team tomorrow. This is great news for Pelphrey, this will free up 2 more scholarships, and allow him to add even more great, young talent to this team. I would like to see him go after some talented JUCO kids.

I bet he goes to ORU or down to FL to play for Heath. He could do ok on a half court team, but does not fit Pelphrey's model of running and fast breaking. Good luck to him and I am glad that all the articles out there about these say he is still working out with the team and that everything is on good terms.

I know they now have the opportunity to fill his vacant spot with a new recruit, but how many can they take.  I thought there used to be a rule that you could only get 8 new scholarship players over a 2 year period.  I know you need to get the players when you can, but I see they are already pursuing some very good players for next year.  Just don't want to fill the cupboard with mediocraty just because we can.  Just wondering if anyone knew if that rule was still in place.

Patsatia is leaving as well.  It has been rumored all season that Pelphrey was going to force Rakestraw to leave.  He isn't a D1 player at all, its funny in that article how his dad is talking to those schools like his son is a stud player.  He would be a good fit at Arkansas Tech or a NAIA school.

Gulley at Fayetteville will be the next homer to shine at UA if they can keep him away from UNC!

I don't think Rakestraw leaving is coming as a great surprise to anyone. He was lucky to get the minutes he got even though I could probably count the number of minutes he played on my fingers and toes.

Slaton10, I will stack the SEC athletes against Big East athletes any day of the week. When we are talking about athleticism the SEC is second to no one! However, there is a difference between athleticism and being a good basketball player. Some players can take their athleticism and add it to their basketball IQ and become great players. Some players remain athletic, but that is all they are and never fulfill their potential as a basketball player. I will give the Big East its props for having the better players this year, but I can assure you that the SEC will be right back where it is supposed to be next season and you can take that to the bank!

I'm done!
