its one game people....ONE GAME.....and its not at the end of the season but the very beginning....look Fukadome was great, yes, the top of the order was 0-10 and Kerry Wood wasn't exactly Goose Gossage out there....but he made a good pitch to Braun who just happened to muscle it over theriot's head..lets not call for Wood to lose the closer's job just yet....I do agree Theriot is not a leadoff hitter and truth be told, he's more a 2nd baseman than shortstop.....but the Cubs will be fine, its not like the Brewers were lights out, and the Gagne  signing doesn't look like Doug Melvin's best acquisition either....its just one game and should be looked at that way from both teams perspective....

Are you Cubs fans kidding me?  It was the first game for crying out loud.

Hey, if you think your best hitters are all going to get on base in every single game, or your bullpen is going to save every game, you are going to be in for a long season.

First game, and some of you (by your posts) seem like your already halfway in panic mode.  Just because every major media expert has you winning the division this year, and then you start by losing your first game, against your division rival, at home, doesn't mean that your leadoff hitter stinks and your bullpen can't save sheit.

Calm down, put away the 12 gauge, and TRY to enjoy the season.

It is only the first game. It is only the first game. It is only the first game. It is only the first game. It is only the first game. It is only the first game. It is only the first game. It is only the first game. It is only the first game. It is only the first game.

O.K. now that I have repeated this cliche' 10 times can we stop reading this comment?

People, stop hatin on the offense. They went up against Ben Sheets. It's not like they gonna face him everyday. The Brewers were shut out till the 9th and they're not freaking out about their offense. We all know Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, and probably Fukudome will put up all-star numbers so the offense should be pretty good this year.

It's only one game, there ya go sosaneedles, maybe we would stop saying it if idiot fans like you weren't singing a doomsday song right now. I mean atleast you could wait till this series is over, or hey even the month. But then again, last year wasn't it the Cubs who after the first couple months were looking pretty pathetic, but then came back to win the division? Its early, the season is a marathon, you act like its a sprint.

Would blowing game 163,164 and 165 be worse than 162?

depends... did 162 mean making the playoffs? if so, blowing 162 would be far worse

The Riot...  I can't figure out why he's leading off, but oh well...

The game was worth taking a day of vacation from work for...  Good game, Cubs.  I can't wait for the rest of this season.  I'll take a wait and see approach for both teams before I can say who is better.

Good luck, and go Brew Crew!

"IT'S ONLY ONE GAME!!!!"

Sure sounds to Cardinals Nation like you are one whiny little bitch Samantha.

Kerry Wood looks great as a closer, just ask Eric Gagne.
