As a Badger fan, I'd be ecstatic if Isaiah took the coaching job at Indiana. As a sane human being, why in god's name would anyone want this guy??... he has basically turned the Knicks from bad to the worst team in the NBA.

As a Purdue student, this would be the best news I've heard in a while. Isaiah turned two of the NBA's best franchises, Pacers and Knicks, into two of the worst in only a few years. I can't see IU wanting this to happen, Isaiah just has to bad of a history. Maybe he'll be better as a college coach, but I can't see that happening.

Isiah Thomas is one of the greatest players to wear an IU uniform. He won a championship in '81. His legacy in Bloomington is outstanding.
Hopefully the legacy stays this way. I don't think he would be a good hire.

In some respects, Isiah would be a great fit for IU - super alumni who would be the best recruiter in the NCAA. But, on the other hand, we don't need another liar - been there, done that.

im an indiana alum and been a hoosier fan since birth.. i speak for all IU fans when i say we dont want Him as our basketball coach.. he honestly wouldnt be that great of a recruiter as someone previously just put.. i mean look how ignorant Thomas is.. he said in the article that Dan Dakich should be named full time head coach and he did a great job with this team.. taking a dominating team to lose 4 of your last 7 games isnt good.. as for more on Dakich, this guy cant recruit.. who would want to play for the guy? i wouldnt..
Hoosier Nation.. No Dakich and No Isiah Thomas .. Thank You

Couldn't agree more with Benny69. I am a Spartan fan and would be gleefull if Isiah took the IU job. (And I grew up worshiping Zeke and took the name Isiah for confirmation.)
I can' t possibly imagine IU offering the job to someone who was found guilty of sexual harrassment and who stated publicly, on the record, under oath, that it is OK to for an African American man to call an African American woman "bitch" and he saw nothing wrong with that.
I am sure IU has more class.

Remember, this is an administration who hired a man who had just been found guilty of cheating. A little sexual harassment and poor record are nothing compared to that.

Don't want it to happen and can't imagine it would happen. Has anyone cited where this speculation is coming from? Sometimes news just develops from a writer asking a far-fetched question and printing the response as if the situation had existed all along. It's pretty likely that everyone is responding to a non-story.
Nearly 10 weeks ago I posted a poll asking whether the Knicks would win 25 games and would Isiah get fired. The outcome was closely split on each question, with the majority of posters hoping that he would be gone but not optimistic that he would be. With 10 games left, the Knicks need to go 5-5 to win 25; they will most certainly have one of the 5 worst records in the NBA and very possibly will have 2nd or 3rd worst.
Alum or not, this doesn't sound like a candidate for the IU job, or frankly any coaching job, college or pro. There are plenty of good candidates out there; I anticipate some real names will begin floating around once the NCAA season ends.

This sounds like a rumor floated by an agent - Isaiah's. It'll be interesting to see if Isaiah returns Isaiah's call... :-)

Agreed, once he loses his Knicks job he will never coach again anywhere.

I'd rather have Dakich than Isaiah, and I definitely don't want Dakich around any longer.

The rumor is IU isn't willing to pay Miller's 2 million dollar buyout. I agree he would be great, but IU won't spend the money.

Coming from an Illinois fan.....I think Thomas would bring a lot of drama and comedy to the Big Ten. He obviously hasn't shown that he can win and has demonstrated the ability to completely tear down professional organizations. Perhaps he would do a different job in college....you never know, but I doubt it.
I couldn't resist to comment on this article. It seems like the media's really struggling for something to write about. It looks like a lot of BS but I would really laugh hard if Indiana does hire him.

As a Badger fan, I have to say that Isaiah coaching the hoosiers is one of the stupidest ideas I've heard in a month of drunken Sundays. As a casual observer of Indiana's athletic administration and all their recent misadventures, I have to wonder if this is for real after all. And so I ask you hoosier fans out there: are the folks in charge of your athletic department actually crazy enough to consider hiring Isaiah Thomas? Giggle. Snort. Hey, I'm not a friend of the program, but I don't hate all the innocent hoosier students, alumni and townies either. You deserve better.

Honestly, I don't even think Indiana would ever consider Isiah. This is something started by the media. Of course Isiah would be interested, he knows his time is about up in N | |
