I dont mean to pour salt on the wounds of any wisko fans out there. But i do believe that the big ten, like awalys was given too much credit this year. ( I live in Minnesota so i've seen my share of big ten games) I figure i would shine a little light on the situation so maybe for once, the basketball nation can come to realize that the big ten is not so great when year in and year out they get dominated in the Big Ten - ACC challenge; domination was continued by a "weak" ACC this year. But it is obvious that many out there will not manage to see the truth when 3 or 4 teams managed to stay ranked around #10 - 20 all season long. They might send 4 - 6 teams to the tourny every year, but they get dominated when they play tougher conferences, and in some cases weaker ones. (Big ten champ losing by double digits to davidson, mich. st. down 30 at half to a c-USA team, and indiana getting bounced in the first round) Wisconsin might have played their worst game of the year, but dont use that as an excuse for losing when all season long big ten teams played inconsistantly.
Badge, you just have to understand that because you win 30 and win the Big Ten doesnt mean you are entitled to be better than a mid-major like Davidson.
Lets look at it this way, the Big Ten loses regularly to the ACC in their early season matchups and the ACC didnt have many really good teams this year. Davidson played with UNC, Duke, and UCLA.
That game was not a huge upset, it was a Top 25 team beating a Top 25 team, thats all, people just have to get out of their entitlement mentality and assume their players must be better because they have 30,000 more students at their school.
Just be glad it was Davidson, not Penn State. If you guys lose to Penn State, then you really really suck. So look at it this way, at least you just suck, not really suck.
I guarantee that if either of the underdogs win these next two games that Memphis and Kansas fans will take a beating as well. Kansas fans usually take a beating reguardless. I've seen "choke" quite a bit on these boards in reference to Kansas.

HilbyPirates - who said wisconsin was entitled to be better than davidson? youre assuming quite a bit. i never said anywhere in this thread or any other thread that davidson winning would be a huge upset. im well aware that they are a top quality team. im not blind.
your straw man arguments dont hold water on this thread. no one here is downplaying davidson.
p.s. UW has 40,000 more students than Davidson (but im guessing tuition revenues at both schools are strikingly similar. i heard that school costs something like 50k a year! man did i appreciate that in state tuition!)

How can anybody say the Big Ten is overrated when anytime anybody ever talked about them this season it was to note how terrible they were. They're down this year, but appropriately rated as such. But whoever said there were multiple mid major conference that are better than the Big Ten is wrong. The Big Ten is the fifth best conference overall (at the very worst sixth) but there is a big dropoff after the last BCS conference and the first mid major
