The Cougs under Dick Bennett seemed like they were just annoying. Sure they were very sound defensively, but as it wasn't clear how the succession would play out. After all, recruiting guys to play in Pullman is a challenge in itself. It seemed as though it would be doubly hard to recruit guys to play what seemed like boring basket ball in Pullman.

Now, I see that it was the first part of a plan, building a strong foundation. As an alum, I remain a Husky, but I must admit that I am also a fan of Cougar basketball. They never seem to play below their ability, and they are truly impressive.

Yes!

G
O COUGS!!!!!!!

It is the day of the game and it is our game!  Be afraid UNC, you are going to get a lesson!

I'm glad you guys are excited about your team... I'm sure it will be a pretty good game... We'll know very early how it's going to go... It's HARD work slowing the Heels down though... HARD work...

Don't be surprised if we jump out to an early lead and get your guys in foul trouble...

What the Bennett's have done at Wazzu is nothing short of remarkable. I was raised in Pullman, having moved there in the 1950's when it was still WSC.  I went to school with Marv Harshman's sons and have followed the Coug's forever throughout my life.  This thread is very heartwarming to all of us long suffering fans.  But rooting for Wazzu has always been about routing for the underdog.  Every once in a while we have our day.  We beat UCLA in football a few years back when they were ranked #1.  Who could ever forget going to the Rose Bowl after 67 years?  Today is like those days, and I believe we have to thank this year's Cougars, and Coach Tony Bennett.  I know I'll be proudly wearing my Crimson and Gray today, and just who knows...  Miracles sometime happen!

Well...great season anyway, Cougs.  Tough game tonight.  There were too many open looks that they missed and you can't afford to miss much against North Carolina.  Even if they were making those shots, NC was just too much tonight, anyway.

But I have a feeling this Sweet 16 run is only the beginning.  Good luck next year!

Wow way to hang tough for 10 minutes. Some d. Looks like UNC played better d than wsu I give credit to wsu though. That program is going places. Hope that their coach stays there and keeps up the good work.
