Official Thread: Oklahoma City NBA Team Name Idea

This is a thread for people to recommend names for the new NBA team in OKC.

I like:

1. Oklahoma City Oilers
2. Oklahoma City Mustangs
3. Oklahoma City Gamblers
4. Oklahoma City Super Sooners! (I think that name is hilarious!)

Just a few ideas I had. Give some suggestions. Please please please...no Arena football sounding names (like the "roughnecks" or anything with a "Z" in it)

Roughnecks was the NASL franchise in Tulsa, so that one's out, it's to closely associated with soccer here.  Outlaws is probably out too because it was the Tulsa USFL team name.  Oilers is associated with hockey here, and gamblers would offend people with gambling problems (of whom there are many since we legalized it)

They will give it a totally PC name - some stupid animal or vague force of nature, which is too bad.

Louisiana..you're right. Never thought about it. The "Gamblers" is a popluar name in England and Australia. And there is an Indian Casino every 15 miles in OK.

Soonerzack.....Scissortails??? It's funny but...it's not a reality...can you imagine.....the scissortails?? Did your wife call the "sports animals" yesterday?? They were really making fun of her.

Carbetbaggers? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA, super clever! 

Actually not appropriate though, a Carbetbagger moves from his or her locale of origin to set up shop in another locale.  Certainly not Clay Bennett. 

But I do have some nicknames for the team Seattle will get once your government officials get out of sitting in the corner with dunce caps on their heads, courtesy of Mr. Stern.
