I really think that 7 guys have the capability to hit 30 +, so about 5 will.

There is nothing that leads me to believe that Weeks, Cameron, Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hall, and Hardy can't each do it, even though I know they all won't.

For all those who think they should have held on to Vargas, I'm wondering who you think they should've cut? And don't you think they've been trying to trade him all offseason? The problem with Vargas is whether he's good or bad he strains a bullpen because he has too many outings where he can't go 6 innings.

If Dusty Baker manages them the right way, then Cincy has a great chance at being good this year.

I'd be amazed if Harang and Arroyo make it through the season. Ask Kerry Wood and Prior how he manages his pitching staff. My guess is they go through about fifteen starters this year.

Yeah a career .276/.341 hitter who steals 87% of the bases he attempts, hit 30 doubles last year and plays above average defense is pur pur mierda

Because 650+ career AB's is such a large sampling. Pat Listach won the AL ROY after 579 AB's, and never hit higher than .244 again.

So true...

But don't get the Cubs faithful on the Kerry Wood topic.  Remember: he's going to save 35 for them this year and have a glorious come back.

What part of pitching out of the closers role means he isn't forced to use his hard breaking pitches as much, thus causing considerably less stress on the elbow, hopefully causing him to remain healthy do you not understand?....

lol don don't insult my intelligence by making those kinds of posts.

Your Chicago colored blinders don't allow you to see that you're reaching so far and hard for Kerry Wood to become some sort of big time, top notch closer.

I don't think Lou Pinella knows Kerry Wood very well.  He won't be able to pitch back to back games.  He is perfect for a spot relief.  I just don't know how much stress his elbow will be able to keep taking from all that work.  I know you explained it to me don, but that is still a lot of work for a guy whose spent a lot of time on the DL.

Psh...here's an exerpt from one of my many Cubs blogs Thunder Matt's Saloon...

What's not to love about Kerry Wood? He never complains, he took a baseball bat to Sammy Sosa's boombox, took the blame for the Game 7 loss to the Marlins, turned down what could have been much more money from other teams to remain with the Cubs out of loyalty, etc. Basically, Kerry Wood is the anti Mark Prior. If I have one guy to give the ball to when I need just one inning, any guy in the entire league, I'm going with Wood. Sure, some others may have better stuff (although Woody has been hitting 97 on the radar gun pretty consistently this spring), but no one has more intensity and willpower than Kerry Wood. This guy is nails. How many times did he bail out the bullpen late in crucial games last season? How money was he in the 2003 NLDS against the Braves? I think one of Wood's worst problems in the past was lack of concentration at times, but now that he'll most likely be pitching the 9th with a slim lead, that shouldn't be a problem. Write in 35 saves with an ERA south of 3.00.
