Tough "D" tonight boys!! Ole Miss will bring it down there....Rebounding and transition basketball is the key!! Go Big Red!!!! Will be pulling for ya Scarlett and Cream!!! Good LUCK!!!
I agree, this should be a great game tonight! Vegas has Mississippi at -5 which seems about right...If this game was in Lincoln it would likely be Nebraska -5. The fact that Nebraska is 2-8 on the road makes me a little nervous, but if we play to our full potential, we should pull out the W in a close game. Our stingy Defense will need to come up big against a Miss. offense that averages 80 pts. If we can keep the game in the 60's we should be alright. Miss. leads the SEC in rebounding, Maric will need to be BIG tonight! This game may come down to who is hotter beyond the arc.
Well, MAYO....you hit it on the head!! Close enuff to push it into OT but not to finish and getter done....if the game was at the Devaney Center, I truly think we woulda rolled! DARN!!
Great job this year fellas! Only KU is left on the courts outta the BIG12, so to go out 2nd to last is pretty good! HA!! We defintely need some heighth here pretty soon.....like real soon.....anybody know how the recruiting class is looking?
Well we have a juco prospect named Robert Sallie that is coming in with all kinds of accolades and will have i believe 4 years to play 3. He is a 6' 7" shooting guard and is hyped to be one of the best recruits NU has seen in years...many years.
We have Alonzo Edwards redshirting who is a pretty thick 6' 7" and then of course Shang Ping who i think is around 6' 10" or so, and Balham about the same but sketchy skills wise.
So...yeah we'll be pretty undersized next year and will probably lose a lot of games from getting pounded down low but we'll also have a lot more talent than in years past and Sallie has the potential to be really great.
I was impressed by the way the Huskers showed composure on the road and stayed in that game. Not to take anything away from Mississippi, they played a great game, but that was one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen. There were blatant bad calls and no calls all game long. I couple of them went in our favor, but the majority went against us. You could tell Doc felt the same way. I hate to say it changed the outcome of the game, but it did.
As for next year, Ping at 6'10, is taller than most centers in the league/nation. However, his skill/talent level is near the bottom. He looks really uncoordinated out there and needs lots of work on his post play/shooting. Balam on the other hand is very aggressive and has pretty decent skills. He has shown a few spurts of really good play this year, however he is undersized for a center.

i should have known...way to go pal. the calls were bad both ways, we did not get any special treatment. the refs were just bad, not biased. how about the hack of warren at the end of regulation? no call was made there. it was just one example of a bad call, they were made throughout on both sides. there were obvious no calls against you guys as well, bad calls on who the ball was out on and such. but it was not one way. dont ruin the great game your team played by whining about it.
you saw what you wanted to see because it was your team. most ole miss fans feel the calls went the other way. several awful calls of traveling when the guy did not travel. fouls that were not called. fouls that were called that were not fouls. baskets that should have counted that didnt, like your guys at the end of the game when they called the foul on the floor. or when #11 goes all over the back of EP for us to get a jump ball, when it should have been his fifth foul instead.
you guys have a good team, and played crazy hard. dont insult that by blaming the refs.
Ok pal....First things first, i did not say the refs were "biased" or they gave Miss. "special treatment". I said there were bad calls BOTH ways, yet most went in Miss's favor. I didn't think it would take a head cashier at Walmart to figure that one out but apparently your struggling comprehending that. Maybe, your the one who "saw what you wanted to see because it was your team"? A couple bad calls against your team and somehow that makes it an evenly bad called game...I dont think so. There were easily twice as many bad calls against NE than Miss. But thats just my opinion(backed by instant replay =) ) not me "whining" or "insulting" anybody so dont give me those lame ass lines.
By the way when you leave your feet with a pump fake, you can't dribble afterwards...That is a travel. Not sure where you getting a foul on Warren's out-of-control shot at the end cause it just wasnt there. There was a 1 bad out of bounds call that went our way, but your guy was side ways on the so called over the back no call but it was close.
Replays showed: Maric was hacked 2 times with no calls, there were 2 out of bounds off Miss and they got the ball back, a phantom foul on Harley after a made 3 pointer by Miss, no call on a 3- point shot by Velander near the end, the foul that was called "on the floor" when Dagunduro was obviously shooting, and they even went to the replay on that one! A couple other touch fouls on our guards were unnecessarily called. Thats just off the top of my head, and those calls wern't even close. It would be hard to believe that there would be a tie after regulation if just 1/2 of those calls were called right the first time.
I still thought it was a good game, and like I said before I dont discredit Mississippi, they played well as did Nebraska.
i see you are mature and rate me low, nice. more class. exactly what i expected.
you are dead wrong, the calls were even. you cant admit that cause you lost, deal with it. none of your counterparts here are complaining. i watched the game with several friends, some neb fans, none ole miss fans, and some who didnt give a crap. none of them thought what you think. it was an evenly called game.
and saying the majority of the calls went one teams way is saying the refs were biased or that one team got special treatment. sorry that is hard for you to understand.
i dont deny anything you saw in replays, but the same thing happened on other replays against ole miss, so that is pointless. we both agreed there were calls missed both ways.
I agree that there were bad calls both ways and they were about even. The most blantant one that I remember going against NU was early in the first half when they threw a lob to Maric. He caught the ball, the Mississippi player jumped to deflect the ball, missed and came down on Maric. What's the call? Traveling.
I don't remember any really blatant calls that went against Mississippi, but I know there were some.
Well the 1 star says "fair" which seemed a little high for the quality of your posts but I thought that was better than nothing? or does that hurt your "Superstar" status? ha ha So if you disagree with someone on here you dont have class or maturity?? Give me a break...
The calls were not even but you can say it as much as you want if it makes you feel better =) I understand and accept that bad calls are made every game, thats the human element of the game. But I cant remember seeing a game where that many bad calls were made/missed and swayed to one side. To many people tend to accept it as "well thats just how it goes", especially if its during the middle of a half.
I dont need any support to confirm what happened in the game, and I could care less what your "husker" friends thought. Like that confirms any of your comments... However, even the sports radio show & ESPN affiliate in Omaha couldnt help but point out how bad the calls were against Nebraska. I dont put all the blame on the refs either, Nebraska had several opportunities to overcome that disadvantage and didnt capitalize.
Ok I will break this down for you real simple.... Saying they were Biased or gave Special treatment would imply that the refs had an agenda or INTENTIONALLY made calls for Miss. But I NEVER said the refs purposely pulled for MIss nor do I think they did. They made bad calls, and most happened to fall against us. It happened whether you want to believe it or not. You have already convinced yourself they didnt so this conversation should probably just end now. However, if you have it recorded go back and watch it; it's undeniable.
Man i wish i had this recorded so i could delve into this argument! I just watched the first half as i had a bball game of my own to go play, but the first half seemed fairly clean to me. That one call on Maric though was pretty bad and you could see how confused he was when the call was made.
Just watch one NBA playoff game involving a superstar such as Kobe, Lebron, Wade, etc. etc. and the refs in college will seem like perfection!
