6. Arkansas, 6 signed prospects
Coach John Pelphrey's Razorbacks catapulted into the top six with a superb late recruiting surge. Arkansas signed the nation's No. 1 junior college player, 6-7 WF Danny Payne (Coffeyville, Kan., C.C.) and perhaps the premier three-point shooter in the high school ranks, No. 101-rated 6-0 PG Rotnei Clarke (Claremore, Okla.) on the final day. Add them to four earlier outstanding signees, top-5 post-grad 6-0 PG Courtney Fortson (Lenoir, N.C.), top-10 post-grad 6-10 C/F Andre Clark (Mendenhall, Miss.), top-40 post-grad 6-2 guard Terrance Joyner (Mendenhall, Miss.) and much-improved Hurricane Katrina victim, 6-9 C Brandon Moore (New Orleans, La.), and Pelphrey has the replacements for his six graduating seniors.

Marcus H,
I knew I could count on you for latest recruiting news for the Razorbacks. I did a little investigating on your picks and wow, I seen a clip shot of that JUCO player in highschool.Man that boy can play. Pelphrey has got some talent to work with and I can see every reason why we should improve on our post-season surge next season. Plus, your knowledge of the Hog's isn't the only reason you've got game, I too am a Atlanta Braves fan. I can't wait for the Braves to make it in to the post-season as well. Go Hogs! GO BRAVES! My Fantasy teams include Mccann, Renteria, Chipper Jones(my hero) and Smoltz and on one website the Atlanta Braves Pitching staff. Yeah its Baseball season!!!
Way to go Marcus,
The Hud--man

Am I the only one hoping to hear of a couple transfers in the next couple weeks? I would like to hear of Pastasia (spelling) and Rakestraw for sure. Those kids have no business in the SEC. It would open up some more scholarships for some late signees. Whats the word on a University of Arkansas-Fort Smith kid transferring to UA?

Thanks HUD-MAN .....just sharing the info I find with my fellow Hog fans..I am looking forward to next season because of the incoming talent level....Love those BRAVES! My Fantasy Team consists of Chipper, McCann, Francoeur and Smoltz. I want to trade for Escobar b/c he is really coming into his own right now. I think his skills will make him our most consistent player. Im looking forward to a 90+ win season from my guys. Your a Class Act HUD-MAN.

I have Texiera, Smoltz, and Escobar on my roster right now. Will probably use Escobar as trade bait here in a couple weeks to pick up another pitcher. I honestly don't see this team being a 90-win team. Sorry. I am a huge Brave fan, trust me, just check my favorite teams. I post regularly on the message boards as well.
Smoltz and Glavine are both getting up there in age, as they are innings pitched. The offense worries me, Francoeur had a very off-season last year, and I hope that he can improve. McCann just got a big contract so I am hoping he plays like it. Francoeur is in a contract year, so hopefully he plays like it.
I would bet that this is John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, and Bobby Cox's last season in Atlanta. Seems crazy. But I can't believe how long Larry "Chipper" Jones has been there too. Think they will try to lock up Texiera and Francoeur after the season?

I just heard something about a kid named Jason Henry...... had some academic issues, like Weems, been in prep school in Cincy, but a h.s. teammate of Weems too. Got his grades right now, and I hear he's coming. Was Cincy's highest recruit last year, but didn't qualify, and Weems has apparently sold him on Arkansas now. This one is a very long 6'5", and can fly...... just what the Dr. ordered I think.

Also, don't think Trent, Kirkland or Sutton are coming....... I'd rather snatch the Henry kid, everybody's chasing him now, I think.... Pitino was after him last year as well. Got some skillz, lmao.

Will this kid be coming here in the Fall of '08? Who else is Pelphrey going after as far as a late signee goes? I heard a UA-Fort Smith kid is transferring up here? Anybody know about this?

I believe this guy will be a lock...he is from West Memphis!
Jason Henry
SF | 6'7" 190 lbs
Henry has very impressive athleticism, leaping ability and quickness, which he displays constantly when on the court. Henry effectively hits the jumper from the top of the key, with range that extends out to the 3-point line, though he penetrates to the basket more effectively at this point in his career. Henry plays with a great amount of energy and attacks the glass on both ends of the court. He would fit seamlessly with a team on the next level that loves to get out and run in the open court, utilizing Henry's good athleticism and energy. He needs to continue to work on his perimeter game and ball-handling for college.
Considering: 1-Arkansas , 2-Nebraska , 3-Providence

Jason Henry has also been talking to Rick Pitino over at Louisville, however I do expect a commitment from him pretty soon at Arkansas. This guy was a teammate of Weems, he has academic issues, he graduated in '07, originally was committed to Cincinnati Bearcats (Huggins Program) at the time, but his grades weren't good enough so he had to enroll at Prep School.
NBA player he compares to: Shawn Marion
