getting back into the defense could slow down the carolina break, (though we have shown on numerous occasions we can still beat teams down the court, even after made baskets)
washington st is going to have to play some extremely efficient offense. unc is already an excellent rebounding team. with very few second chance point opportunities and a slower pace, shots will have to drop. unc is also a better set defense than transition defense.

just throwing out random ideas there... not very organized. o well.

tyellington it really sounds like the State fans posting here havn't seen Carolina play.

If Washington State does not think we play very well on sett offensive plays, rebound well especially if WSU runs away from rebounds, and run slower than State, you right.  It will be a very long night. Yep, it's  happened before and the Tar Heels have lost. Then again if Carolina continues to shoot 60+ from the floor it may be a very short evening.

State is going to have to play execptionally well to beat North Carolina. The Tar Heels adapt rather quickly though and that's why we win.

We'll know in 24 hours.  Again, hoping for a good game with no injuries.

UNCle, fortunately we get to see a lot of ACC basketball and in turn, UNC basketball. It's on right after work/school every wed. and first thing sat. what else would we be watching?

I think your misunderstanding, what I was trying to say. I know UNC can play in the half court, but if they do the, score will be low and we will have a chance. If they don't their going to play to our strengths on defense and run into serious trouble.

I am betting that UNC is mentally incapable of playing the style of basketball we demand; meaning their going to try and run. I would if I was used to scoring bundles, heavily favored to win but asked to slog it out in a slow paced, no glory, style of play.

We hope UNC doesn't take us seriously. It's a part of the team mentality. So, please continue, and be sure to abide by the "UNCLE Rules."

Go Cougs.

WSUcougar05  Knew where you were coming from and appreciate your trying to keep the half court game to your advantage.  Several things, Ty Lawson getting hurt in the BYU game.  That put us in a half-court mode through a tough  span of 7 road games.  When he returned it was not long until he was taken out by the Fl State Team and again, we wound up playing more half court games than Roy wanted.

I think it really helped Carolina in the long run.  We finally got the only (Senior) Point Guard left  to shape up and do what he should have been doing for the last 4 years, play better.  It took us through the ACC Tourney to get comfortable with Lawson back.  So I really think we'll be ready for more of a half-court game.   We will run when given the chance but I think Roy will also have Carolina ready for State. He's too good a coach not to.   I'm looking for a 78 - 66 score with the Tar Heels winning of course. But I've been around long enough to know that on any given night, anything is possible.  If we lose, I'll come back and eat a little crow.

Oh, and thanks for the UNCLE rules as I got a good laugh.   I have tried to get the young guns to put a little more thought in a post and avoid the trolls.  I did not know they had spread all the way to  Washington State.  I appreciate your using them and reminding me.

Again Cougar05, looking for a good game with no injuries.

GO TAR HEELS

Jazz-bo, apparently Carolina's heart and will to fight as hard as it takes to win took a vacation when you lost at home to Maryland and Duke (Duke?). And regarding WSU's road to the national championship, your Tarheels, I believe, are travelling that same rocky road. I'm a Husky fan but I'm pulling for the Cougars all the way--and any Cougar fans who don't like it, F U. Pac-10 first, rivalry second.

WazzuBrian, you forgot a couple of names the Tarheels can call you--Cow Tech..........Moo U...........hmmm, if I think of any more I'll let you know.

Good luck to WSU. I'm a Husky and I'm pulling for you. Not for you, WazzuBrian--I don't care if a truck runs over you and every pea-brained redneck like you and the buzzards eat your carcasses off the road--but for the Cougars, as representatives of the Pac-10.

Sorry in advance for the long winded post....i haven't posted in few days so i'm getting it all out lol

First of all, hats off to WSU for two well played games thus far and to the fans here on this board. I don't frequent these boards so it's just a first impression, but judging by the posts on this thread you guys seem very knowledgable and level headed.

I'd agree that WSU has a great Defense. Stats aren't everything but how can you argue with the second lowest PPG avg. The problem is that they weren't playing UNC. Everyone loves to talk about how UNC loves to "run." Well yea, they out match most of the teams the play athleticly and they use it to their advantage to score easy baskets.  That doesn't mean they don't have a half court game. You say your watch Carolina basketball. If you did then you'd know that our Halfcourt game can hurt teams just as much.

As for underestimating them? Its not like WSU is a 12 seed. They're a 4. And after watching the nonsense that went on in the first two rounds how could any team possibly understimate another now?

The Heels are just too much team for the cougars. It might be close during the first half but eventually they will pull away. They adjust really well.......Heels 83 Cougars 69.
