To all my fellow Hog Brothers and Sisters:
As always I went over to the upcoming opponents page to wish them good luck and guess what they think of us as a basketball team?
I read every thread on their message board and not one person over there thinks we are worth playing, not one!!
So I just left their board and came right back to our home page. I expected a few disrespectful fans but had no Idea that every one of them are on some kind of "Highhorse". When you get a chance, you've gotta check it out. One thread said we were just a bump in the road they were going to run over. Another said, "Well, now that Indiana lost we can go ahead to the game after the Hogs and start figuring that game out. In other words, we weren't a consideration of having to even think about a chance of a good game. Every one of them are totally sure we are just a scrimmage game.
Look, I have played organized sports all through my childhood ,all the way through highschool and would have played college if I hadn't took a shot in my knee in a highschool championship game and blew it out. After that I coached soccer up until the last five years. In that coaching gig I won 5 out of 8 season Championships.Believe me when I say that this is not bragging but just to make a point.
Growing up in organized sports< I figured out one certainty. That was that no matter who you play in no matter what sport, you never, I mean never, under estimate your upcoming opponent for no reason. Anything could happen in any given moment to change your destiny forever. My father told me that at a very young age and also told me to never dig at any player or team by disrespecting them in any way, shape or form.
After seeing that disgraceful show of sportsmanship the Tarhill fans are showing us as a University, as a people, and as a fan base, I am in total disbelief that they are that big of a bunch of Batt-Dung on my shoe. I truly hope that we are on our "A-Game" tomorrow so that they never forget how unclassy they were.
I am going to pray for the team tonight and all of them as well, because i've learned one thing and thats that you reap what you sow and they could be sowing for a very long time after tomorrows game.

HUD--MAN, anyone who has ever played or coached organized sports beyond kindergarten level knows at least one thing, and that's what a team's fans think of an upcoming opponent is totally and absolutely meaningless. The Tarheels didn't get to be the winningest and most prestigious college basketball program east of the Mississppi over the past 50 years by underestimating its competition. As I said, anyone who's actually played or coached organized sports could never care less what a team's fans think in regard to its preparation and approach to a competition....translation: get a life.

Well what did you expect look at there team, they have got to take advantage of what they have in basketball, cause they suck at football. I would expect this and So what, if they lose it will be delightful going over to the board and rubbing it in. I don't think i will be getting that opportunity, but i sure hope we Hogs get kucky and when because that is where i will be right after the game.

Are you trying to stir up trouble?
I went to the Carolina board. True, there are some who are way overconfident, but for the most part they are responding to attacks from angry Hoosier fans. The "bump" comment was a post "bump" because the thread creator hadn't gotten any responses. Most are respectful, just uninformed. So is the media. I keep hearing about how turnover prone Ervin is. That just hasn't been true for about two months. The guys have the system down now.
Three Reasons Carolina should worry (but won't):
1) Arkansas is a senior-laden team. These are the types of teams that pull upsets of this magnitude. Five guys who are talented, but not talented enough to have jumped to the NBA., They've been around the block. They won't panic. This is their last shot at glory.
2) Carolina has no real presence in the post. Yeah, I know, I know...Hansborough. That's it. If the refs let the guys play underneath, Hill can contain TH.
3) Carolina plays soft defense. They have enough offensive talent to overcome this, but they will give up open shots. The Razorbacks play there best ball when they're given open shots (Tennessee).
This is no gimme.

CBS commentators are saying that the HOGS are going to give the Heels a run for their money. They have been commenting about our inside presence and how the Heels cannot match up with us in the middle. The key to the game they say is the point guard and they are saying, as most HOG fans have, that Gary Ervin has played his best basketball the last third of the season and I agree.
If it comes down to Ervin winning the game for us I think that he can keep the ball moving and make good decisions. Really, Pel only played Welsh to give Ervin a breather most of the last part of the season or to change the pace and bring out the opposing defense with his ability to hit the 3.
Ervin is going to have to play a lot of minutes since Welsh is out, but I think Pel will put Beverley in that position when needed and that is not a bad thing. I am looking forward to a tough battle and the team that wins this game will have a legitimate shot at the NC.

Maybe you should get a life....
This is the NCAA tournament, anybody has the chance to beat anybody... Look at the Tampa games....
The Hogs have a hell of a team and I expect this one to be close, but maybe you should stop worrying about who's making fun of your Hogs, and worry about how they are gonna contain the heels offense....

Just some food for thought here! The last time we played North Carolina, and they were ranked #1, we beat them! The year was 1983, back in the days of Charles Ballentine, Darrell Walker, and Alvin Robertson. I was 8 and I remember it like it was yesterday! They said we couldn't do it then, and they're saying we can't do it know! Karma has a funny way of showing it's ugly head to the non-believers. We have as good of a shot at this as anyone in the country! I know that was the past but I thought you HOG FANS would enjoy it!
That doesn't mean it will happen again, but we don't run and hide from anyone! I hope we get to see Tyler Hansborough cry, AGAIN!

I would just like to say that i've never been able to enjoy organized sports, but, just being an arkansas fan and watching them through the years has let me know the exact thing HUD-man is talking about. The razorbacks have been considered an underdog for every game in every sport that I can possibly remember, but their persiverance, resilance and heart give them just as much a chance to win as the next team, yes odds are stacked against us tonight, and win or lose, I will be right there cheering them on. I give major props to Pel and the fantastic job he has done in giving the basketball program the confidence and inspiration they have been missing. His style may not have fit the players we have now as a match, but his philosophies and game plans did, and to tell you the truth, i'm happier with the team more now, than I have been in the last few years. All I got to say is Razorback Nation, Give Em' Hell.
