First off, I'd just like to say I find the title of this thread misleading. If everyone goes to either Heaven or Hell after they die, and if you go to either of those places forever, then everyone gets eternal life :) This is more an invitation to eternal paradise or salvation or whatever you want to use to describe it.
Ok, got the silly semantics off my chest!
To the poster who said something along the lines of 'those who bash Christianity do so because they fear it'....I disagree strongly. While it's certainly possible that is the case sometimes, I think you have to take location into account. This is a message board based around an American sport. Christianity is far and away the most followed religion in the US from every survey I've ever seen of the subject. Our founders came from a Christian-based society. As such, it is the religion people in the country are probably most exposed to. I know I have certainly heard more about Christianity than Islam, Buddhism, or any of the other religions of the world. For those of us that disagree with religion for whatever reasons, Christianity is simply the 'easiest target', because many of us just don't have the experience with other religions to make strong arguments about them. If it makes you feel better, I am anti-religious, not simply anti-Christian :) And while I may not agree with your beliefs or understand how you can have your faith, I'm glad you have the right to them.
Religions bother me because I don't have the mind-set for that kind of faith, and so have a hard time wrapping my mind around how other people can. I've had many arguments about religion, most of them fairly pleasant, surprisingly enough. I would say I am agnostic rather than atheistic, so that may help. Whatever the case, I certainly don't see anything wrong with this or any of the other religious threads I've seen lately. As many have said, anyone who doesn't want to read can just skip by and not click on it. I'm enjoying reading both the arguments and the simple professions of belief; the way other people think is as often fascinating as it is frustrating.
