The things of the old testament were under the Law, but Jesus is the New Covenant.

If the old law is not necessary due to Jesus being the New Law, then why do you keep quoting scriptures from the old testament??

Hello Durban ..

You are asking a question completely out of context with what me and Pura Vida were talking about.

Jesus also quotes Old Testament, and Claims the New Covenant. Anything can be argued out of context.

Tony

God will reveal himself to everyone.  Which means that it is not your responsibilty to pester everyone you speak to.It is my responsibility, because I know the Truth. However, I have had discussions with many on the thread in a civilized manner. Never, have I disrespected anyone, and never will I.

I don't need your big, religious quotes to get eternal life. Jah tells me i'll go to Zion and live forever in my mortal body so long as I do whats right. Send you a t-shirt and a hat when I get there, but if you reach Heaven send me a "I was a Saint and all I got was the lousy T-Shirt".

And Bruce didst say, "Smite me all mighty smiter!"  And then God, who is black, had Bruce hit by a semi, as he knelt in the middle of a four way intersection. Brings a tear to my eye :(.

Jesus quoted verses from the old testament because that is what those people understood.  He was in the transition stage of the new covenant.  If he were here now, do you think he would still quote old verses or what he was trying to do away with?

Both , being careful not confuse those he taught. God teaches us alot in the Old Testament. Job is a great story of faith, and endurance in the Lord, and also teaches us the Character of God. The prophets in the old Testament spoke of end times (that are still to come).

Great Question!

Is it surprising that the tree of forbidden knowledge was a fairy tale in other religeons before it was a fairytale for the Judaeo, Christian and Muslim religeons?
From wikipedia:

Trees in other religions

Similar trees appear in other religions. In the closest, most relevant comparison, the iconic image of the tree guarded by the Serpent appears on Sumerian seals; it is the central feature of the Garden of the Hesperides in Greek mythology, where the guardian serpent receives the name Ladon. In Buddhism, the Buddha became enlightened under the Bodhi tree. While the biblical tree is usually interpreted as representing sensual pleasure, the Bodhi tree gave pure transcendent knowledge. [citation needed] In Vedic Hinduism, the Tree of Jiva and Atman is usually interpreted as a metaphor concerning the soul, mind, and body. In the Norse sagas, the ash tree Yggdrasil draws from the magic springwater of knowledge. To many who believe the Bible is filled with parables, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is actually a library or some other form of educational writings

Job is a great story of faith, and endurance in the Lord, and also teaches us the Character of GodGod gives the devil permission to kill jobs whole family and that teaches us the character of GOD??????
(by the way, Job's family are the only direct deaths attributed to satan in the entire bible.)
