James Harden announced today that he will probably return to Arizona State for his sophomore season. Jeff Pendergraph also said that he is most likely returning for his senior season.

This is great news. The only senior on the team is Antwi Atuhene, who has been buried on the depth chart this season. With all 5 starters returning this year, and all of the key players  returning next season, ASU should be just as competitive next year, if not more.

I sure hope that probably doesnt mean maybe, but that it means surely. I think Harden needs atleast 1 more year to develop his all around game, and ASU surely could use him next year.

Things do look optimistic in that sense.  Hopefully Pendergraph comes back, I believe that going to the draft at this point would not be a good decision for him, he has too many things he needs to refine, especially is face-up offensive game or players in the NBA would eat up the fact that he doesn't really have one.  I just think tinkering the college levels is a lot easier than in the pros (Trying such things in game time situations really helps with the learning curve).

True, I hope Harden realizes that at eighteen, and with the wealth of talent leaving the PAC-10, he could take his game lotto by end of next season if he stays one more. Pendergraph would be making the mistake of his life if he left; he did nothing to improve his stock by fouling out half of his games and being inconsistent as a low post scorer. I say that out of love, b/c I want him back, but you cannot fully deny my claim. If anything, he proved more one dimensional, and he lacks the size to play true low post in the NBA. He needs to come back, hone is shot, and then try. Harden, i think, is not lotto material this year. He is great, don't get me wrong, but again falls in the tweener positional ranks, as he is still not fast enough to handle two's on D, or be a true one decision wise. He is slow by NBA standards, not college.  One more year both both will make them rich, and longer term in the league.

That is great. Hopefully they can make a better mark in the pac 10 next year.
