I don't understand how 14-16 (7-9) Georgia Tech is a higher seed than us, but that doesnt matter. Screw my last post, what do you think our chances are versus Wake ?
This is bull that we have to play Wake Forest, because I know we could easily handle GT. But WF has not been playing well of late so maybe we can beat them.
I think we need to go to the championship to have a chance and be like21-14.
But just looking at 21-14 looks like you shloud not be in the tourney.
Shawn13,
I agree, how do GT (7-9) 14-16 get the 7th seed over FSU (7-9) 18-13 which we get the 8th seed? We beat GT in our match up this year!! That is total bull crap!!! I am so pissed at that.
But anyway, as far as WF goes, they are a tough team. Basic same schedule results as us, but they were not playing as good as us down the end of season. They did beat us twice this year, but each game we should have won. I think we will be looking for a little revenge for those two losses and gut out a tough win against WF.
I still hate that we have to play UNC in the 2nd round. This is such bull. We should be playing Duke.
WF took us down twice, we did get a little closer the 2nd time. Maybe there's an upset here and we can take them to the last shot, even OT ? At any rate, even a win vs WF, it's over after 40 minutes with UNC in the next game.
Since there was a three way tie for the #7 seed, you have to look at head to head for all three teams. Georgia Tech is 2-1 against Wake and FSU, Wake Forest is 2-2, FSU is 1-2. That's why FSU is the 9th seed.
Thanks legal. I wasn't sure how they did the tiebreak either. I guess it's a moot point now because we just beat Wake. Good win for us and we got UNC next. We get another chance at a big upset. We match up pretty well with them so it should be a good game. Hopefully Douglas can play well and Rich continues doing his thing and maybe, just maybe, we can pull that upset.
Irrelevant now, FSU takes down WF 70-60. 5 points better in each half 31 and 39 for FSU, 26 and 34 for WF. I think FSU had a sense of urgency to at least play UNC a 3rd time this season. The rule of 3's seems to hold some relevance, that is, it's hard to beat a team twice in the same season, but 3 times is even tougher if the two are relatively close competitively.
I'm sure you know by now that FSU loses by 12 to UNC. In looking at the stats and listening a bit on satellite, FSU played well as a whole. They shot well, rebounded well and played with enthusiasm. Unfortunately, during the extended periods when Carolina went cold, so did FSU. You have got to take advantage of opportunities. As I have said before, this will teach FSU to learn how to win the games they should win so they won't be in this position. Do you agree?
I watched the game on ESPN2 and we did play pretty well. We actually had the rebounding edge for almost the entire game, until the very end. Exactly like you said, when they went cold, we went cold. I can remember two periods of the game. It seemed like they were stuck at or around 20 for a while but we really couldn't score much either. Also, just after halftime they didn't score a point for a few minutes, but neither did we. We also missed a lot of close, wide open looks. Free throw shooting was poor too. If we hit a few more free throws and hit those close shots, it would have been different. We needed to play perfect, and had the opportunity to, but we just didn't.
