#4 Seed in NCAA tournament

I was thinking a 5 seed. Considering they are ranked #20 right now....RPI is #13....5 should be a lock. A 4 seed would not be out of reach though.

Just think, a trip to the Sweet 16 and they will have a 30 win season!!!!

The major websites keep saying 4, 5, or 6. I think the committee looks highly on a team that wins both the conference and  tournamen t.   

I almost like the 6 seed if Drake were seeded in the Omaha region as opposed to 4 or 5 seeds which would put Drake in Anaheim, Denver, or Tampa.   If your a sixth seed and can get by the first weekend the highest possible seed you face is a number 2 seed.  If your a four or five seed and get by the first weekend you likely face a #1 seed.

I don't know if that makes sense or not but Omaha is only a little more than two hours from Des Moines (where Drake University is located).  If Bulldog fans can manage to get tickets and fill the arena that gives them a home field type advantage against slightly higher seeded teams and a better sweet sixteen matchup. 

But then again maybe I'm looking ahead too far.  Maybe it's better to make sure we get the best seed possible because nothing in for sure in that first and second round.

Oh well - I'm glad I don't have to make that decision.  Whatever happens from here forward is just more frosting on the cake.  Go Bulldogs!!!

6 seed is the best they will get.   History says that these small conferences are not going to steal the higher seeds.   I don't like it but it is true.  

All you have to do is look back at Gonzaga from a few years back.   Everybody knew who they were because of previous success and they had a very good year with no bad losses and they were ranked in the top 15 if I remember correctly.    The committee gave them a #6.  

Just remember nobody real knew who Drake was before this year and that will work against them.

While I'm not a Drake fan I will be rooting for them so I'm not trying to rain on the parade.   Let's hope the committee finally realizes these little boys can compete!

I'm starting to change my opinion about going to Omaha as a six seed.  I hear that nearby Kansas will likely be seeded in that region so say goodbye to homefield advantage.  

In reality there is still quite a bit of action before selection Sunday.  If several teams ranked near Drake lose conferenc e tourney games that may be helpful for the Bulldogs to gain a better seed.   Only one team per conference that has a tournament finishes the year with a win so alot of teams will lose this week (probably overstating the obvious),
