The regular season is over, and I view this season as a huge step in the right direction.  This team was terrible last year, and with the same players finished with a winning record.  It would be nice to see the team win a couple games in the bigten tourny before heading into the NIT.  Maybe even a long run in the NIT.  Didn't the Gophers win the NIT in '96, the year before they made their final 4 run.  I'm not saying we are going to see a repeat of that, but it does give me hope of the team getting back in the top 25 sooner rather than later.

The Gophers will be better next year.  Tubby got the best out of his players.  18 W's and  12 L's is not to bad.  However, next year Tubby will make a run in the Big Ten and the Big Dance.  Tubby can make a run in the NIT.  If they get lucky and win three games they will go to the Big Dance.

Good luck to Minnesota in the Big Ten touney and the NIT. I'm a Kentucky fan, but you guys have turned around so much in 1 year, and Tubby will just keep making the team better each year. I look for you guys to make a run for the Big Ten championship next year. Good luck Gophers.

SGMC

I don't think you guys are making a run at the big 10 title next year.  I think if you beef up you non-conference you could make the NCAA's.  You guys want to move up so lets focus on the 5 teams in front of you:

Michigan State, Ohio State, Indiana, Purdue, and Wisconsin.

1. Do you return better Talent then those teams in front of you?
2. Do you have the most talented recruiting class?

As I see it you guys have a good shot at being a NCAA team but will be depending on a lot of young talent and that can go up and down.  Purdue did a good job this year but remember they where average before the big 10 slate. Losses to both Missouri and Wofford.  Again I think you guys are an tourny team next year but still a year or two away from the Big ten title

Have to agree with Badger here, dang.  But we will not compete for the Big Ten next year unless Tubby is magic.

We are losing seniors and replacing them with freshman.  Could be a baby step backwards next year.

As far as teams ahead of us, I think IU could be in a world of hurt next year.  Not too impressed with Ohio state.  Very impressed with Purdue.

Winning a couple games in the Big 10 tournament and doing well in the NIT tournament would really make the gophers season a success.  I've heard they have a decent recruiting class coming in that could really challenge for some starting spots.  One incoming recruit I am looking forward to see is a guard from Canada that can shoot the lights out!!!!!!!!!

Badger...I have to agree with you as well.
I fully expect this team to take a small step backwards next year.  Coleman, Tollackson and McKenzie represent about 10 years of division 1 basketball experience.  Granted, more often than not, they seemed to make me slap my forehead and exclaim, "c'mon make that freethrow/layup/jump shot."  But still experience is an intangible that all coaches strive for.

We won't have experience next year.

Next year will go, I think, as our experienced players go.  What will Westbrook, Williams and Johnson do?  Will Hoffarber improve off the dribble?  Can Nolen develop a more consistent shot?  If these 5 guys make their mark they will create room for Sampson, Devoe and others to be able to have a little bit of a grace period before they're expected to fully contribute like they are expected to down the line.

I'm not going to predict a 20 win season in 08-09 because I don't have to have to force our BadgerinIll friend to look at next year's schedule in order to tell us who we cannot beat...I'll save that for next November.

But before next year we have a couple of games this week to worry about.  Go Gophs!
