How dumb are the Democrats?

I never said that Union workers didn't deserve to make as much money as they can or that they didn't deserve health care, retirements, safety, and a clean environment.  We are all in this together.  Everyone deserves to make what the market will bear for their skills and work.  When we demand more than fair market for our services, and form unions to prevent others from performing the work at fair market value, then corporations move the jobs.  It’s not only unions driving jobs away either; it’s a combination of things including worker salaries, taxes, regulations, etc.  Not all unions are bad nor are regulations all bad.  Both have legitimate reasons to exist and are necessary. 

Well run unions keep in mind that what's in the companies best interest is also in the union workers best interest.  When corporate management is making obscene salaries and the companies aren't profitable then the unions should step in and demand new management and/or reduced compensation packages for the management.  Unions should also help establish what precautions are needed to ensure worker safety.   When negotiating salaries and benefits, the unions must be aware of the company’s profitability, total cost of doing business, and the relative cost of competitors located in other companies.  If your company has to charge $5 each for your product, and a competitor can sell the same product for $4 by making it in China, the jobs will evaporate.  It doesn’t matter whether the cost drivers are the “un-skilled labor”, management compensations, excessive regulations, excessive taxes, etc… the jobs are still lost.

As far as taxes, I complain about all taxes.  I’d love to see income taxes on companies eliminated.  I’d also love to see personal taxes capped at 1/3 of income.  Our government needs to set priorities and spend our money more wisely.  Both Republicans and Democrats are guilty of funding pork projects and wasting our money. 

I wasn’t aware that corporate America had a grudge against you and people like you.  I had no idea that corporate America was putting up road blocks to stop you.  I’m not sure how corporate America knows who you and people like you are or why they would want to road block you.  In the absence of some rationale reasons or proof that the road blocks exist I’ll remain skeptical.

I read that to mean you were asking for the government to take more money from us to pay for health care, etc... 

$4.00 Dan? Really try $0.40. This is more in line with the trade deals that have forced jobs out. We had a big newspaper strike in our town (Toledo) and the newspaper continued to talk about how our workers need to be more like China. "Things are great in China." This Chinese person would say. "Lots of jobs happening." So we are supposed to become like China. I'm not saying that you are saying this, but certainly there is a not so ambiguous message sent by the right in this country that the worker is at fault for their jobs leaving. Again, I'm not saying unions haven't gone a little too far, but it really is incomparable to the imbalance in trade that is not the fault of unions in the least. I think that many of the higher-ups do have the interest of the country in mind... I would like to dream that there are a few anyway. However, I know that this is an issue that was started in the Clinton administration, but exploited in this one. The free market left uncontrolled... well... we had that before in this country. That is why there is oversight.

In regard to taxes. Seems like many republicans want this country to run for free. I understand lower taxes increase business potential, but the potholes don't get filled with shattered dreams of a nation that left people behind.

If money is waisted, I want it waisted on my countrymen. I am my brothers keeper. I don't want to leave any behind.
