Oliver Perez was drilled by a comebacker by Victor Martinez in the first inning, close call, but Perez is ok.

Some notes:

Sorry to see Niese go down so quickly, he looks like he has good stuff. Otherwise, it's good to see Delgado taking swings cause timing is so important to his game and he'll need time to get it going.

Thanks for the updates Tart !

Thanks Tartans.
Yes, Niese has looked great, but he was never in the mix to go north.  He needs more time to develop in the minors.  We need to keep an eye on this guy.  He looks like the real deal.

vinnman4 - I have not heard much on him either but here is his stat line from spring so far:

2 IP 3H 1SO 1R

He has only faced 10 batters and has gotten 2 ground ball outs and 3 flyball outs

Thanks for the update..

It looks like they didnt really give him much of a chance...but guessing go down and work at it and who knows, maybe bring him back up at some point..

Yeah, I like Padilla's stuff,  I was hoping he would win a spot this spring. He's a big question mark, since he's been out for a year (or more).  Keep an eye on him at AAA. Hopefully, we'll see him back up this season.

Niese was the starting pitcher against the Dodgers in a game I recently went to.  Was extremely impressed with him.  I know the Dodgers are not an offensive powerhouse, but his stuff looked really good (especially offspeed).  Have to agree, keep an eye on him for the future.
